International folklore and performing arts festival in Montecatini Terme
The 5th International Art Festival Wonder of Tuscany returns to Montecatini Terme, in the province of Pistoia, from July 3rd to 6th, 2026. Now in its fifth year, this international event brings together artistic groups from every corner of the globe in one of Tuscany's most elegant locations, renowned for its historic thermal baths, palm-lined avenues, and refined Belle Époque atmosphere.
The festival is open to a wide variety of artistic expressions: folk groups, orchestras, majorettes, modern dance ensembles, choirs, and marching bands, with no age or group size limits. The result is a kaleidoscope of traditional costumes, music, songs, and dances that transforms the center of Montecatini into an open-air stage where diverse cultural identities meet and engage in dialogue.
Performances are held in the scenic Piazza del Popolo, the city's main square, where participating groups take the stage to showcase their talents and receive their participation diplomas. The event is non-competitive: the goal is sharing, cultural exchange, and friendship between peoples—values at the core of the mission of the EAFF (European Association of Folklore Festivals), the organizer of the event and a promoter of intangible heritage.
The program spans four days. After arrival and a welcome evening, which also includes exploring Montecatini Alto and its surroundings, the highlight of the event is the day of performances in the square, followed by the diploma ceremony. The days are further enriched by optional excursions to some of the region's most beloved destinations: Lucca and Pisa, Florence, the Ligurian coast, as well as San Miniato and Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo. This format combines artistic performance with tourism, allowing groups to experience the full beauty of Tuscany.
Strategically located between Florence, Pisa, Lucca, and Siena, Montecatini Terme is Italy's largest spa town and an ideal setting for an international festival. The combination of wellness, architectural elegance, and cultural vibrancy makes this Tuscan destination a complete experience, perfectly blending a passion for the performing arts with the beauty of the landscape.
The fifth edition of the 5th International Art Festival Wonder of Tuscany is held in Montecatini Terme from July 3rd to 6th, 2026, under the direction of Aron Kovats and organized by the EAFF. The program includes arrival and a welcome evening on July 3rd, with a visit to Montecatini Alto; on July 4th, performances in Piazza del Popolo with the diploma ceremony, plus optional excursions to Lucca and Pisa; on July 5th, optional trips to Florence or the Ligurian coast; and on July 6th, departure or visits to San Miniato and Vinci. Participation is open to artistic groups of all kinds with no age limits.
By train: the Montecatini Terme station is served by the Florence-Lucca-Viareggio line. By car: take the Montecatini Terme exit from the A11 Firenze-Mare motorway. Nearest airports: Florence and Pisa.
The main performances are held in Piazza del Popolo, in the center of Montecatini Terme.
The festival is open to artistic groups (folk, orchestras, choirs, majorettes, dance, bands). The 2026 participation fee is €199 per person with half-board; information and registration via the EAFF ([email protected]).
