The charity football tournament in Sizzano honoring the memory of Alessandro Grazioli
The 4th Alessandro Grazioli Memorial is the charity football tournament that brings the municipal sports field of Sizzano, a small town in the Province of Novara in the heart of Piedmont, to life every June. The event was created to honor Alessandro Grazioli, a midfielder and captain of Sizzano Calcio, who passed away on March 4, 2022, at only 26 years old due to acute myeloid leukemia. Originally from Briona and deeply connected to the local community, Alessandro was esteemed not only for his athletic talent but also for his integrity and team spirit—qualities that earned him the respect of both teammates and opponents.
More than just a competition, the Memorial is a day of celebration and participation that brings together amateur teams, Alessandro's former teammates, friends, and families. Matches and moments of gathering take place on the Via Gaudenzio Chiovini pitch, while all proceeds from the initiative are donated to leukemia research, supporting the associations AIL (Italian Association against Leukemia) and ADMO (Bone Marrow Donors Association). Sport thus becomes a tool for tangible solidarity and raising awareness about the importance of bone marrow donation.
Now in its fourth edition, the Memorial has become a staple of Sizzano's sporting and social calendar. Over the years, the event has been enriched with significant commemorative moments: in a previous edition, the municipal sports field's grandstand was named after Alessandro Grazioli, a testament to how his presence remains alive in the town and the local amateur football scene.
Supported by the Municipality of Sizzano and local football clubs, the Grazioli Memorial is open to everyone with free admission. It is an opportunity to spend an afternoon outdoors, support an important cause, and keep the memory of a young man who left a deep mark alive. An event that embodies the most authentic spirit of local sport, built on passion, community, and generosity.
The 4th Alessandro Grazioli Memorial will take place in Sizzano (Province of Novara) in June 2026, starting at 3:00 PM at the municipal sports field on Via Gaudenzio Chiovini. The event will reaffirm its charitable mission: all proceeds will be donated to leukemia research, supporting AIL and ADMO. The match schedule and the list of participating teams will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event. Admission is free.
The municipal sports field is located at Via Gaudenzio Chiovini 19 in Sizzano (NO). By car, Sizzano can be reached via the A26 motorway (Romagnano Sesia or Ghemme exits) and the provincial roads of the Novara area. The nearest train station is Ghemme, on the Novara-Varallo line.
Admission is free. All proceeds from the day are donated to leukemia research, supporting AIL and ADMO.
