The enduro mountain bike race in the Italy-Austria-Switzerland border triangle, around Lake Resia
The 3-Länder Enduro Race is one of the most spectacular enduro mountain bike competitions in the Alps. It takes place in the border triangle where Italy, Austria, and Switzerland converge, surrounding the iconic Lake Resia (Reschensee). The event's headquarters are in Curon Venosta — known in German as Graun im Vinschgau —, a municipality in the Upper Venosta Valley in the province of Bolzano, within the Trentino-Alto Adige region. The race course spans the Italian slopes of Resia/Reschen, the Austrian side of Nauders, and the Swiss Lower Engadine.
The race utilizes the 3-Länder Enduro Trails network, a region featuring over 30 single trails covering approximately 60 km of paths and 2,500 meters of elevation gain, all serviced by the Resia and Nauders ski lifts. The terrain ranges from smooth flow trails to technical sections filled with roots and rocks, as well as bike park lines—a diverse and complete environment designed to challenge both professionals and amateurs alike. The landscape is unique, offering views of the artificial lake and the sunken bell tower of Curon, the area's absolute landmark.
The format follows the classic enduro style: you climb using the lifts or by pedaling, and only the descents (stages) are timed. The prologue, held on Friday afternoon, is used solely to determine the starting order, allowing those who arrive on Saturday morning to still participate. Over the weekend, riders tackle numerous special stages, with categories for Pro, Open, Master, Junior, Kids, E-MTB, and Duo. Pro riders face additional, more demanding stages.
Organized by Chili Motion, the race is a stage of the Specialized Chili Enduro Series and attracts hundreds of participants from across the Alpine region every year. Beyond the timed runs, the event features the Chili Village as a social hub, complete with a Saturday night dinner, award ceremonies, an expo, and a festive atmosphere that defines the three-day event. It is a celebration that unites sport, the biking community, and tourism promotion in a fascinating corner of Trentino-Alto Adige, bridging the Italian and German-speaking cultures of Alto Adige/Südtirol.
The 3-Länder Enduro Race 2026 returns from August 28 to 30, 2026, on the trails around Lake Resia, with its headquarters in Curon Venosta (Graun im Vinschgau). Hundreds of riders from across the Alps are expected for three days of racing in the border triangle between Italy, Austria, and Switzerland. The format includes a prologue on Friday (which only determines the starting order) and numerous timed stages over the weekend, with Pro, Open, Master, Junior, Kids, E-MTB, and Duo categories.
The race consists of up to 11 stages across the Italian (Resia/Reschen), Austrian (Nauders), and Swiss sides. Pro riders face additional, more challenging stages.
Curon Venosta/Graun im Vinschgau is located at the northern end of the Venosta Valley, on the Resia Pass (SS40). By car: take the A22 motorway to the Bolzano Sud exit, then head towards Merano and the Venosta Valley until you reach Resia; from the north, cross the Reschen Pass. By train: travel to Malles, then take the local bus towards Curon and Resia.
Registration for the 2026 edition opens on March 27, 2026, at 6:00 PM on the official website. The fee includes a race bib, timing for all days, a 3-day ski pass (value €119), dinner at the Chili Village on Saturday, live timing, and rankings.
Mountain bike event: helmets and protective gear are mandatory. Book your accommodation in Resia, Curon, or Nauders well in advance, as they are in high demand during the summer peak season. High-altitude weather is variable: bring layered clothing.
