A day of masks, colors, and joy in the heart of Val Tidone
When Carnival season arrives, the historic center of Ziano Piacentino transforms into a large festive space. For an entire day, the town fills with colors, masks, and music: it's the Ziano Piacentino Carnival, the event organized by the local Pro Loco that attracts families, children, and curious visitors from all over Val Tidone and the Piacenza Hills.
This is not a grand historical carnival with monumental floats like the more famous ones, but an authentic and participatory village festival, where the community comes together to share a day of lightheartedness. The streets and squares of the village, in the heart of a region famous for its wines, become the natural stage for a tradition that is renewed each year.
The heart of the festival is dedicated to families. Throughout the day, there are entertainment activities, creative workshops, shows, and moments of fun designed for children, who can parade in their costumes and masks. The atmosphere is typical of a provincial Carnival: confetti, streamers, disguises, and lots of shared joy.
As with any respectable popular festival, the Ziano Carnival also features a gastronomic component. The food stalls set up by the Pro Loco offer typical Carnival sweets and flavors of the Piacenza tradition, to be enjoyed while strolling among the masks. It's also a good opportunity to discover the products of a territory, the Colli Piacentini, known throughout Emilia-Romagna for its wines.
Located in the province of Piacenza, in Emilia-Romagna, Ziano Piacentino is one of the municipalities most dedicated to viticulture in Val Tidone. Its hills produce some of the most representative labels of the Piacenza Hills, and the village is enlivened throughout the year by initiatives organized by the Pro Loco and the Ziano Eventi association. The Carnival is one of the events that best tells the community spirit of this corner of the Piacenza territory.
