The multidisciplinary arts festival for under-25s at Teatro India in Rome
Youth Fest is the multidisciplinary festival promoted by Dominio Pubblico, a project for cultural education and active citizenship aimed entirely at the under-25 demographic. Every year, at the end of June, the Teatro India in Rome becomes the headquarters for a new generation of artists: over a hundred young creatives take the stage and occupy the theater spaces with theater, dance, performing arts, music, cinema, visual arts, comics, and digital arts. The unique feature of the project is that the program is chosen by the young people themselves: a Participatory Artistic Direction (DAP) composed of under-25s selects the shows and builds the festival, under the guidance of artistic director Tiziano Panici.
The thirteenth edition, scheduled at Teatro India from June 23 to 28, 2026, is titled Sorgenti (Springs). The theme evokes the vital and disruptive force of the new generation of artists, ready to emerge to the surface like veins of water breaking through rock. Over six days, more than twenty-five events and over a hundred under-25 artists will perform across the halls, foyer, and arena: from micro-theater to contemporary dance, from performance poetry to short film festivals, and interactive digital art projects to evening concerts featuring the emerging scene.
Youth Fest takes place in the Municipality of Rome, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital (Lazio region), within the spaces of Teatro India, in the Ostiense-Marconi district along the Tiber. The event is produced in collaboration with the Fondazione Teatro di Roma and stands today as one of the key reference points for emerging creativity in the capital: a place where young people are not just spectators, but protagonists, organizers, and programmers. For the public, it is an opportunity to discover in advance the names and languages that will shape the Italian theatrical, choreographic, and artistic scene in the coming years.
The 13th edition of Youth Fest animated the Teatro India in Rome from June 23 to 28, 2026, under the title Sorgenti, a metaphor for the creative force of the new generations. Six days, over a hundred under-25 artists, and more than twenty-five events, with artistic direction by Tiziano Panici and selection curated by the Participatory Artistic Direction (DAP) of Dominio Pubblico.
Highlights included: the visual arts exhibition Coordinate dello sguardo in the Foyer, the presentation of the collective comic La fine del (mio) mondo, the micro-theater piece Whispering Twenties by BeiRicordi Teatro, the Correnti short film festival, contemporary dance studies from the Primi Tempi showcase, and numerous performances of theater, poetry, urban arts, and digital arts, accompanied each evening by live music from the emerging scene in the theater's arena.
Teatro India is located at Lungotevere Vittorio Gassman 1, in the Ostiense-Marconi district of Rome, along the banks of the Tiber. By metro: Line B, Marconi or Basilica San Paolo stop, followed by a short walk or bus ride. By car, it is accessible from Via Ostiense and Via del Mare; during the festival, the use of public transport is recommended.
Admission to events is partly free and partly paid, with rates varying depending on the show. Updated information on schedules, prices, and reservations is published on the Dominio Pubblico website and via the festival's contact channels ([email protected]).
