A summer of culture in the shadow of the Gazometro
India Città Aperta is the summer festival of Teatro India, located in the heart of Rome's Ostiense district, where the industrial archaeology of the Gazometro provides a natural backdrop for nearly three weeks of performances. Promoted by the Fondazione Teatro di Roma - Teatro Nazionale in collaboration with Dominio Pubblico ETS and supported by Roma Capitale, the event transforms the outdoor Arena, the Spazio Canneto, the Sala Oceano Indiano, and the Bar India into a creative hub open to all ages.
The 2026 second edition
From July 14 to 31, 2026, Teatro India hosts the second edition of the festival: around forty events and over fifty guest artists, with a common thread inspired by the dreams and visions of Pier Paolo Pasolini. The program spans theatre, contemporary dance, music, publishing, public dialogues, and activities for younger generations, confirming the venue's multidisciplinary vocation.
Theatre, dance, and music
The programming alternates between major figures of the Italian stage and emerging young companies. The dance section is curated by Lea Giamattei, an under-35 artistic director, while the entire lineup is developed under the direction of the Fondazione Teatro di Roma. Alongside evening performances, there is space for concerts, dramatic readings, public dialogues, and installations.

Getting there
Teatro India is located at Lungotevere Vittorio Gassman 1, in the Ostiense district of Rome, in the shadow of the Gazometro. By metro: Line B, Garbatella or Piramide stop, followed by a bus or a short walk. By train: Roma Ostiense station is just a few minutes away. By car: Exit from the Lungotevere; parking is available near the Gazometro area.
Tickets
Most events are free of charge; for paid performances, the flat rate is 10 euros (children's shows: 10 euros for adults, 7 euros for children). Booking is recommended via the official Teatro di Roma website.
