Music, nature, and camping between Riardo and Pietramelara, at the foot of the Trebulani Mountains
The WNC Weekender is an event created by the Wood and Connection collective that, every year at the start of summer, transforms the area straddling the towns of Riardo and Pietramelara, in the province of Caserta, into a meeting point for music, nature, and community. The organizers describe it clearly: "it's not just a festival, it's an experience to return to the essence, reconnect with the earth, rediscover our origins, and embrace the history of sacred places." The theme of the 2026 edition, The Sacred Mountain, picks up this thread and focuses on the relationship between participants and the landscape of the Alto Casertano.
The formula is now well-established: the event is not concentrated in a single space but moves between three distinct hubs that set the rhythm of the weekend.
The artistic direction focuses on experimental electronics, frontier sounds, and the independent scene of Central and Southern Italy, with a strong presence of collectives and projects from Campania. Past editions have featured a mix of DJ sets, live sets, and acts blending Mediterranean tradition with electronic production—a program that prioritizes discovery over big-name headliners. Tickets are sold via the Resident Advisor platform, reflecting an audience of club music enthusiasts and experimental sound lovers.
The WNC Weekender doesn't end with the music at night. The daytime program, hosted at the village and its surroundings, has featured morning yoga, rock climbing, trekking on the Trebulani trails, vineyard visits with brunch, local food tastings, and thematic workshops ranging from beekeeping to mushroom cultivation. It is this dual soul—nighttime party and daytime exploration—that distinguishes the event from most summer music festivals.
We are in a part of Campania far from the tourist routes of the coast: the town of Pietramelara and the nearby village of Riardo lie at the foot of Monte Maggiore, in a landscape of olive groves, vineyards, and woods rising toward the Trebulani chain. It is a land of mineral waters, historic viticulture, and ancient sheep tracks, with castles and medieval villages dotting the hills. Bringing a contemporary music event here also means promoting a form of slow tourism in an area that remains peaceful even in summer.
The audience is typical of human-scale festivals: young and old alike looking for an intimate atmosphere, shared camping, and direct contact with the performers and organizers. The limited capacity, affordable prices, and the ability to sleep in a tent just meters from the stage make the WNC Weekender one of the most original offerings in the summer calendar of the province of Caserta.
The theme chosen for 2026, The Sacred Mountain, guided the entire edition around the idea of the axis mundi, the vertical link between earth and sky. The two evenings at the Castle of Riardo alternated live sets and DJ sets, while the Villaggio Al Posto Giusto in Pietramelara hosted the camping and Sunday activities.
The closing moved higher up, to Piano Razzano, on the lower slopes of the Trebulani Mountains, where the audience shared the final moment of the event in an open natural setting. A formula that confirms the festival's vocation: small crowds, deep connection with the Alto Casertano territory.
The festival takes place between Riardo and Pietramelara, in the Alto Casertano region, about 50 minutes from Naples. By car, take the SS6 Casilina road, exiting at Caianello or Capua. By train, the most convenient station is Vairano-Caianello, on the Rome-Naples line via Cassino, from where you can continue by private vehicle or organized shuttle.
The official campsite is at the Villaggio Al Posto Giusto in Pietramelara (villaggioalpostogiusto.it), included in the camping passes. Alternatively, in the nearby town of Roccaromana, you can find the Giardino Segreto di Roccaromana - Hostel (via Peluso 3, tel. +39 347 523 4383) and the Limo Bed and Breakfast (vico del Popolo 8).
Tickets can be purchased online via Resident Advisor, with full weekend passes or daily options, with or without camping. For information and press inquiries: [email protected]; daily updates are available on the Instagram profile @wncweekender and the official website.
Bring hiking shoes for daytime activities, a headlamp for camping, a reusable water bottle, and sunscreen: June days are already warm, while temperatures can drop significantly at night in the hills.
