Evenings of music and dance in Piazza De Rege
August in Casagiove is the summer festival promoted by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Casagiove, located in the province of Caserta in the heart of Campania. Every year, during the peak evenings of August, Piazza De Rege—the town's main square—transforms into a grand open-air dance floor where live music and DJ sets meet dance and togetherness.
The core idea behind the event is proximity culture: giving public spaces back to the citizens as places for meeting, celebration, and life. The initiative is designed for the entire community, with a special focus on families and young people, aiming to strengthen the sense of belonging among residents and visitors. The evenings, which are free to attend, generally start in the early evening and continue late into the night, with musical selections that appeal to all ages, from classic dance hits to the latest chart-toppers.
The program alternates dance evenings hosted by local DJs with moments dedicated to the folk music of the Caserta and Campania region, featuring performances that trace the town's cultural roots. The festival was born as a widespread and convivial celebration: no massive stages or tickets, just the square experienced as a large open-air living room where people can dance, listen to music, and meet up during the summer nights.
Located at the gates of Caserta along the ancient Appian Way, Casagiove concentrates most of its summer events around Ferragosto (mid-August), when the community gathers to enjoy the hottest days and nights of the year together. August in Casagiove thus fits into the municipality's summer calendar, offering residents and those vacationing in the province of Caserta a simple, free opportunity to enjoy music, dancing, and the festive atmosphere of Campanian nights.
For the summer of 2026, the Municipality of Casagiove is once again transforming Piazza De Rege into an open-air disco, with free dance evenings organized by the Culture department. From the days of Ferragosto until the grand finale on August 25th, the square will host DJ sets and a folk music show that will close the festival in style.
