The White Night in San Lazzaro is one of the most anticipated events in the summer calendar of San Lazzaro di Savena, a populous municipality in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, in Emilia-Romagna. For one evening at the beginning of June, the heart of the city transforms into a large outdoor party: the central streets are pedestrianized and come alive until late at night with music, shows, shopping, and the aromas of street food. It is the event that, by tradition, opens the San Lazzaro summer season.
A city center to be enjoyed on foot
The party involves the main streets and squares of the center: via San Lazzaro, via Emilia, piazzetta OSCA Maserati, via Jussi, piazzetta Trebbi, and via della Repubblica. With the closure to traffic, the entire city center becomes walkable, with gazebos set up by merchants, shops open for evening shopping, and bars and restaurants ready to welcome residents and visitors from neighboring towns.
Music, dance, fashion, and cars
The program combines many different elements. The musical part is entrusted to live concerts and numerous local dance schools, which perform along the streets with choreography and demonstrations. There are also fashion shows, sports demonstrations, creative and craft markets, food truck and street food stands, as well as an exhibition of vintage cars that colors the corners of the center. For the little ones, there are games, jugglers, and entertainment, ensuring the evening is truly for all ages.
A celebration of the city and local commerce
The White Night is promoted by Stay Serena Aps, with the patronage of Confcommercio Ascom Bologna and the Municipality of San Lazzaro di Savena, and the contribution of the Chamber of Commerce of Bologna. In addition to being a moment of fun, the event is designed as an opportunity to promote local businesses and commercial activities: a true community celebration that focuses on local commerce and city center life.

The 16th edition of the White Night in San Lazzaro confirmed the format that made the event the official opening of the San Lazzaro summer. From 7:00 PM to midnight, the center was closed to traffic and transformed into a large pedestrian area between via San Lazzaro, via Emilia, piazzetta OSCA Maserati, via Jussi, piazzetta Trebbi, and via della Repubblica.
Many attractions were on the program: live concerts, performances by dance schools, fashion shows, sports demonstrations, creative and craft markets, food truck and street food stands, as well as an exhibition of vintage cars. For children, there were games and entertainment. The event, with free admission, was promoted by Stay Serena Aps with the patronage of Confcommercio Ascom Bologna and the Municipality of San Lazzaro di Savena.
