Waiting for the Giovenche di Razza Rendena

A country evening at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites

Waiting for the Giovenche di Razza Rendena is the local festival that the Pro Loco of Giustino organizes every late August at Piazzale Casa Diomira, in the municipality of Giustino, in Val Rendena (Autonomous Province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige). This event was created as a vibrant preview of the grand "Giovenche di Razza Rendena. Parade and surroundings", the festival in Pinzolo that celebrates the only native cattle breed of Trentino and the farming identity of the valley.

Spit-roast, burgers, and live music

The evening captures the genuine spirit of mountain celebrations: dinner is served outdoors with spit-roasted meat, burgers, and fries, accompanied by beer and great company. The atmosphere is that of a country party, featuring live music and line dancing: in past editions, the Let's go Country Line Dance group has energized the square. There is also the mechanical bull, a challenge for the bravest, along with games and dances that keep the square buzzing until late at night.

A bridge to the cattle festival

The main event, the Giovenche di Razza Rendena, continues with a week full of appointments between Pinzolo, Giustino, and other villages in Val Rendena: conferences, cheese competitions, visits to farms and mountain dairies, educational moments, and the spectacular cattle parade with the Breeder's Festival. The evening in Giustino ideally opens this journey, bringing the scents and traditions of Alpine peasant life back to the village.
