A folk music and theatre festival in the heart of Tuscia

The Voices and Sounds Festival is one of the most anticipated summer events in Caprarola, a famous Farnese village in the province of Viterbo, Lazio, perched on the slopes of the Cimini Mountains at the foot of the monumental Palazzo Farnese. Every August, the festival brings the great tradition of folk music and theatre to the stage, with a lineup that alternates concerts, theatrical performances, and narratives dedicated to Mediterranean roots and the voices of the South.

A history spanning nearly twenty years

Founded in 2008, the festival is organized by the Compagnia Teatro Popolare Peppino Liuzzi, a local cultural organization that has spent years promoting the recovery and appreciation of folk culture, polyphony, and oral traditions. Edition after edition, the festival has hosted singer-songwriters, world music groups, female vocal ensembles, and theatre companies, building a loyal audience and a recognizable identity throughout the Viterbo Tuscia area.

The voices and sounds of the Mediterranean

The common thread of the event is the encounter between traditional music and contemporary research: polyphonies of the South, singer-songwriter music, pizzica, tarantella, and sounds that look from the desert to the sea. Alongside the concerts, there is space for folk theatre performances, often tinged with irony and linked to the memory of farming communities and village festivals.

Venues and atmosphere

The events take place in the evocative scenic garden of the Don Paolo Stefani Theatre, overlooking the Cimini landscape, and at the Angelo Pecorelli Theatre. The summer evenings, under the stars, offer an intimate and cozy setting where the relationship between artists and spectators remains direct and warm. In case of bad weather, the shows are held indoors.

The festival offers free admission, with booking recommended to secure a seat.
