A month of regenerative tourism exploring nature, historic villas, and communities in the hills of Capannori
Vivi Capannori is the initiative through which the Municipality of Capannori, in the province of Lucca and the heart of Tuscany, invites residents and visitors to rediscover the Piana di Lucca with fresh eyes. This is not a traditional food festival or a music event, but a project of regenerative and experiential tourism: a proposal that looks beyond simple sustainability to place the relationship between people, the environment, and the community at the center.
Throughout the month of May, every weekend, the municipal area transforms into a widespread stage. Hillside hamlets, historic villas, Romanesque parish churches, forests, and farms become stops on a journey that unites culture, nature, and well-being, always at a slow and mindful pace.
The heart of Vivi Capannori lies in its group tours, many of which feature free services from tourist and environmental guides. Each appointment has a different title and theme: from immersion in the rural traditions of San Pietro a Marcigliano to visits to Lucchese villas like Villa Torrigiani in Camigliano and the Villa Reale di Marlia, as well as museums, artisan workshops, and tastings of local products.
Alongside the discovery of historical and artistic heritage, the program offers outdoor wellness experiences: yoga sessions immersed in the rural landscape, music therapy activities, forestfulness practices in the woods, sunset hikes, and itineraries tracing the Romanesque style between the churches of Ruota and Treponzio.
With its vast territory consisting of dozens of hamlets scattered between the plains and the hills, Capannori is one of the largest municipalities in Tuscany and guards a widespread heritage of Lucchese villas, ancient parish churches, and agricultural traditions linked to olive oil and the land. Vivi Capannori enhances this very wealth, offering participants the chance to get to know places often outside the major tourist circuits.
Most visits are free, while some more structured experiences (tastings, yoga, brunch) require a contribution. Booking is mandatory for all activities. The organization is managed by the Territory Promotion Office of the Municipality of Capannori.
The 2026 edition of Vivi Capannori reiterated the regenerative tourism formula of the Municipality of Capannori, with a dense calendar of events spread across every weekend in May. From rural traditions to Lucchese villas, from hillside hikes to wellness practices in the woods, the program offered a range of experiences to enjoy the territory with slowness and awareness.
The visits, mostly free and requiring mandatory booking, touched upon some of the most evocative places in the municipality, from the Villa Reale di Marlia to Villa Torrigiani, from museums to Romanesque churches.
