Electronic music and international visions in the Itria Valley
Amidst the landscape of trulli, dry-stone walls, and vineyards of the Itria Valley, the VIVA! Festival in Locorotondo (Bari, Puglia) has become one of the most recognizable fixtures on the Italian electronic scene. Born in 2016 with the vision of creating a symbiotic relationship between contemporary sounds and the identity of the Apulian territory, the festival brings a selection of international artists, producers, and DJs to the inland countryside of Bari every summer, redefining the boundaries of club culture.
VIVA!'s formula is that of an international festival tailored to its territory: a few days curated down to the smallest detail, each with its own musical identity, ranging from refined electronica to alternative pop, and from ambient to techno and house drifts. The audience arrives from all over Italy and abroad, drawn as much by the programming as by the unique setting of the Itria Valley, just a few kilometers from Alberobello, Martina Franca, and Cisternino.
A distinctive element of the festival is the closing at dawn, a ritual that has become VIVA!'s signature over the years: after nights of concerts and DJ sets, the audience gathers to welcome the sunrise with a special set, often by the sea, reserved for full-pass holders. It is the most intimate and defining moment of the event, where music, landscape, and community merge.
Listed among the most beautiful villages in Italy, Locorotondo is famous for its circular historic center and its characteristic pitched roofs known as cummerse. Nearby, the countryside of Contrada Grofoleo hosts the Arena Valle d'Itria, the heart of the festival. Choosing VIVA! means combining a vacation in Puglia with the discovery of one of the most vibrant musical scenes in Southern Italy, in a territory rich in Locorotondo DOC wine, olive oil, and hospitality.
For its tenth anniversary, the VIVA! Festival presents a milestone edition at the Arena Valle d'Itria in Locorotondo. Three nights of electronica, alternative pop, and sound research with several national exclusives, before the famous sunrise closing reserved for full-pass holders. A line-up that alternates international stars and new Italian voices, confirming VIVA! as one of the most innovative festivals in Southern Italy.
Arena evening hours: from 7:00 PM until late at night.
The festival takes place at the Arena Valle d'Itria, in Contrada Grofoleo, in the countryside of Locorotondo (BA). By car, it can be reached via the SS172 dei Trulli; the nearest airports are Bari Palese and Brindisi. The Locorotondo train station is served by the Ferrovie del Sud Est line.
Tickets and passes are available for purchase on DICE: single-day tickets for Day 1 (July 31) or Day 2 (August 1), 2-day passes, and 3-day passes including the sunrise experience on August 2. Reduced early-entry rates are available.
The evenings continue until dawn: we recommend booking accommodation in local trulli or farmhouses (agriturismi) in the Itria Valley well in advance and wearing comfortable clothing suitable for nights in the countryside.
