The 'Suspended Village' of Tuscia turns pink with music, performances, and local flavors
The Vitorchiano Pink Night is the grand summer festival of the 'Suspended Village', the charming historic center made of peperino stone that clings to a cliff in the heart of Tuscia, in the province of Viterbo, Lazio. For one evening in early July, the alleys, squares, and panoramic overlooks are adorned with pink lights and decorations, turning the entire town into an open-air stage. Admission is free, and the festivities, which kick off at 7:00 PM, continue late into the night.
Music is the absolute star of the evening: live bands perform simultaneously in different parts of the village, with a lineup ranging from rock and pop to vintage and rap, plus DJ sets for younger crowds. The 2026 edition featured bands like Polaroid, Crazy Hats, 4x4 Live, Almamousiké, and Banditi delle 4 Note, followed at the end of the night by Le Pulci and the Astral DJ set. Strolling between Piazza Roma, Piazza Umberto I, and Piazza SS. Trinità, visitors can move seamlessly from one concert to the next.
Alongside the concerts, the program offers plenty of space for the performing arts: dance school exhibitions, high-impact aerial acrobatics shows in Piazza Umberto I, and, in various editions, street performers and stilt walkers who guide visitors through the most beautiful corners of the historic center. The Complesso Sant'Agnese also hosts the 'Mostre in Rosa' (Pink Exhibitions) opening, adding a cultural and artistic dimension to the festival.
The Pink Night is also a journey through taste: the food stalls managed by the Pro Loco, the San Michele Arcangelo and Sant'Antonio festival committees, and the Carnevale e Cultura and Fuori Le Mura associations, located between Piazza Roma, Via Belvedere, and Piazza Umberto I, offer traditional dishes, street food, and Viterbo specialties. It is a perfect opportunity to savor local products in a convivial and festive atmosphere.
The event is organized by the Municipality of Vitorchiano in collaboration with the AIR business network and local associations. As Mayor Ruggero Grassotti emphasized, the Pink Night "represents a moment of celebration that unites culture, entertainment, and tradition," resulting from the synergy between the municipal government, local businesses, and volunteers. Born as a local summer appointment, the festival has grown year after year, attracting thousands of visitors from across the province.
The symbolic moment of the evening is the pink illumination of the western cliff, which provides a spectacular view of the perched village until midnight. Vitorchiano, one of the most beautiful villages in Lazio just a few kilometers from Viterbo, is perfectly suited to this natural backdrop: the Pink Night is the ideal way to discover it in its most magical form.
The 2026 edition of the Pink Night took place on Saturday, July 4, transforming the historic center of Vitorchiano into a large open-air stage. From 7:00 PM, food stalls from the Pro Loco, festival committees, and local associations brought Piazza Roma, Via Belvedere, and Piazza Umberto I to life, while at 7:30 PM, the 'Mostre in Rosa' exhibition was inaugurated at the Complesso Sant'Agnese.
The evening continued with dance performances in Largo Guglielmi, an aerial acrobatics show in Piazza Umberto I, and, from 10:00 PM, live concerts by Polaroid, Crazy Hats, 4x4 Live, Almamousiké, and Banditi delle 4 Note, followed by Le Pulci and the Astral DJ set. The western cliff, illuminated in pink until midnight, provided a spectacular sight. The event, free of charge and organized by the Municipality of Vitorchiano with the AIR business network, attracted thousands of visitors.
Vitorchiano is located in the province of Viterbo, about 8 km from the provincial capital. It can be reached by car via the Orte-Viterbo expressway (Vitorchiano exit) or the SS675. Parking is available near the historic center, after which you can proceed on foot through the pedestrianized village. By train: Viterbo station or the Vitorchiano stop on the Rome-Viterbo line, then take a taxi or local transport.
The festival starts at 7:00 PM and continues late into the night. Admission is free; you only pay for food and drinks at the stalls.
The village is explored on foot along stone alleys: comfortable shoes are recommended. For program updates, please check the official channels of the Municipality of Vitorchiano.
