About Vintage Toy Rome

The Vintage Toy Exchange Exhibition is Rome's premier event for vintage toy collecting. Held in the halls of the Mercure Hotel Roma West, in the Torrino district just a stone's throw from the EUR area, over one hundred exhibitors from across Italy bring 80s Barbies, LEGO bricks, Japanese robots, Transformers, Big Jim, action figures, and retro video games back to life. A nostalgic dive where enthusiasts and families can search for, buy, and trade rare pieces dating from the 1930s to the 1990s.

The Vintage Toy Exchange Exhibition in Rome

The Vintage Toy Exchange Exhibition is one of the most anticipated events for collectors in the Capital. Hosted in the Mercure Hotel Roma West, in the Torrino district just steps from the EUR, the event transforms the congress center halls into a massive collector's market, where over one hundred exhibitors from all over Italy display and sell vintage toys, scale models, and collectibles. The event takes place in the Municipality of Rome, in the heart of Lazio, and consistently draws enthusiasts, nostalgic fans, and families alike.

A journey into nostalgia

Walking through the aisles of the exchange fair is like taking a real journey through time. From the 1930s to the 80s and 90s, the toys that defined the childhoods of multiple generations are on display: sought-after Barbie editions, tin Japanese robots, action figures still sealed in their original packaging, vintage dolls, and extremely rare sets in collector-grade condition. Every object tells a story and brings back the atmosphere and memories of a bygone era.

What you will find

  • Dolls and Barbies from the 60s to the 90s, including rare and hard-to-find versions;
  • Robots and action figures: tin Japanese robots, Transformers, Big Jim, and Saint Seiya;
  • Bricks and construction sets: vintage LEGO, often with original boxes and instructions;
  • Scale models: cars and vehicles, including Hot Wheels and collectible toy cars;
  • Retro video games: historic consoles and cartridges from the early days of home gaming;
  • Cult characters: Smurfs, Polly Pocket, Subbuteo, and many other pop culture icons.

More than just buying and selling

The exchange exhibition format is designed for more than just shopping: it is primarily a meeting place. Expert collectors and curious newcomers gather to trade pieces, discuss market values, and share memories. For children, the occasion is educational—a way to discover how their parents and grandparents played before the digital age. In some editions, there are even stations with retro video game simulators where you can try the titles that made history.

An event that returns throughout the year

The event is not tied to a single date: the organization, managed by "L'angolo del niente di nuovo," offers several editions throughout the year, spanning winter, spring, summer, and early autumn. Each edition features a growing number of stalls—up to about one hundred and fifty on the busiest occasions—occupying the entire congress center of the Mercure Hotel Roma West, confirming Rome as one of Italy's capitals for vintage toy collecting.
