Floats and masked party in the scenic Piazza Ducale
The Vigevano Carnival takes place in the heart of the city, in the Province of Pavia, with the masked party invading the famous Piazza Ducale, a Renaissance jewel framed by arcades and the Bramante Tower. Organized by Vibes APS with the patronage of the Municipality of Vigevano, it is the event that opens spring with floats, music, and entertainment for families.
For safety reasons, the Vigevano Carnival does not feature a parade: the floats start from the depot on the outskirts and remain stationary in Piazza Ducale all afternoon, available for costumed children for photos and fun. Surrounding the floats, there are alternating cabaret shows, dance performances by local schools, and entertainment for all ages.
The highlight is Shrove Tuesday, which moves to the Cavallerizza of the Sforza Castle: a day of celebration with baby dance, dance and music shows, live bands, DJ sets, food & drink, and a costume contest with prizes. In case of bad weather, the events in the square are moved indoors, also at the Cavallerizza.
The 2026 edition of the Vigevano Carnival, organized by Vibes APS with the patronage of the Municipality, took place on Sunday, February 15th, and Shrove Tuesday, February 17th, between Piazza Ducale and the Cavallerizza of the Sforza Castle.
In case of bad weather, Sunday's events were moved to the Cavallerizza of the Castle.
During the Carnival period, between February and March (in 2026, Sunday, February 15th and Shrove Tuesday, February 17th).
