The comic book and pop culture festival in Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata
Vibrata Comix is the festival dedicated to comics, cosplay, and pop culture held in Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata, a town in the province of Teramo, in the heart of the Val Vibrata in Abruzzo. For one full day, the event transforms Piazza Europa into a large open-air space bustling with stands from artists, illustrators, crafters, and enthusiasts of the nerd world.
The festival was born in 2025 from the vision of a group of friends united by their love for pop culture, comics, and gaming. What started almost as a challenge among enthusiasts quickly turned into an event capable of drawing a large crowd, with participation requests doubling after just the first edition. The initiative is held with the patronage and support of the municipal administration of Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata.
The Vibrata Comix program blends exhibitions, gaming, and performances. Activities animating the square include:
In just a few editions, Vibrata Comix has become a reference point for fans of comics, manga, video games, and Japanese culture in the area, fostering a dialogue between established and emerging authors and a curious young public. The atmosphere remains as convivial and informal as it was at the beginning, with the town square filled with cosplayers, gaming tables, and exhibition spaces.
Located in the far north of Abruzzo, on the border with the Marche region, Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata is a lively town in the province of Teramo. Piazza Europa, the town's urban heart, provides the ideal setting for a popular and accessible event that combines the tradition of Italian town festivals with a contemporary imagination made of comics, gaming, and pop culture.
The second edition of Vibrata Comix was held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in Piazza Europa in Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata, from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with free admission. The event tripled its attendance compared to the first edition, filling the square throughout the day.
The stage hosted interviews with comic artist Cristiano Catalini, author Alessia Poliandri, author and content creator Enrico Romagnoli, emerging artist Filippo Di Michele, and the video game developers from Black Flamingo Games. The program featured a cosplay competition, a Beyblade tournament, and, to close the event, the Comix Trivia prize quiz.
Towards the end, a blackout darkened part of the square, but the organizers moved speakers and microphones to the illuminated area, successfully completing the evening. The event was held with the support of the municipal administration.
