Verucchio Calici: Romagna wine in the Malatesta village

Verucchio Calici is one of the most popular food and wine events of the summer in the Rimini hinterland. For two evenings, the historic centre of Verucchio, a municipality in the province of Rimini in Emilia-Romagna, transforms into a widespread tasting trail that winds through the squares, alleys, and panoramic spaces of the Malatestiana Fortress, overlooking the picturesque Valmarecchia valley.

Four themed areas in the heart of the village

The event is divided into four areas distributed throughout the historic centre, each becoming a stop on a culinary itinerary:

• Piazza Malatesta, the heart of the event;
• Piazza Battaglini, with its tasting stands;
• Piazzale Ex Macello, a space dedicated to wine and street food;
• Rocca Malatestiana, the symbolic fortress of Verucchio, which hosts tastings and musical moments in a unique setting.

The wineries and flavours of Romagna

The absolute protagonists are the wineries and producers from Romagna, who present their labels to the public: in recent editions, over twenty wine-producing realities from the area have participated. Alongside the wine glasses, the food stalls offer cured meats, cheeses, Romagna piadina, and other local specialities, with the presence of sommeliers to guide the tastings.

Evening music and atmosphere

Tasting is intertwined with live music: concerts and DJ sets liven up the squares and the Fortress, transforming the village into a large open-air lounge under the summer stars. The medieval charm of Verucchio, one of the historical capitals of the Malatesta family, provides the backdrop for a food and wine stroll that combines good wine, local food, and historical heritage.

How it works

Access to the village is free; to participate in the tastings, you purchase a kit consisting of a bag, a glass, and tasting tickets, allowing you to move freely between the winery stands. A free shuttle bus connects the Villa Verucchio car park to the historic centre throughout the evening, facilitating visitors' arrival.
