A vertical challenge on Lake Como

Musso, a small municipality overlooking the upper part of Lake Como, is dominated by the imposing Sasso di Musso, the rocky promontory that was the site of a famous fortress in the 16th century. This is the setting for the Vertical del Sasso di Musso, the non-competitive vertical race that attracts mountain running enthusiasts and walkers every September.

Four kilometers, one thousand meters of elevation gain

The course measures about 4 kilometers with almost 1,000 meters of elevation gain (940 meters): it starts from the Musso pier, on the lake shore, crosses the town center towards the hamlet of Genico, goes through the woods near the Croda, and reaches the panoramic ridge, arriving at the church of San Bernardo. It is a challenging climb but accessible to many, offering spectacular views of Lake Como. Those who prefer can stop halfway, in the locality of Corna, choosing the walking version.

A village festival at altitude

Organized by the Proloco Medicea of Musso in collaboration with the Municipality, the Vertical is much more than a race: the registration fee includes a race kit, technical t-shirt, bag, backpack transport, and lunch at the oratory for all participants. The event is part of the shared calendar of events for the Alto Lago di Como, confirming the link between sport, territory, and community that characterizes this corner of the Province of Como.
