Skies full of color at the Roman Theatre Park of Gubbio
Ventomania is the International Kite Festival of Gubbio, an event that every spring transforms the Roman Theatre Park into a sky full of colors. Founded in 1984 thanks to the Gubbio Fly association and today organized by the Eolo Gubbio Kiting Association, the festival attracts kite flyers from all over Italy and abroad to one of the most evocative settings in the city of the candles.
Throughout the festival, the sky is filled with artistic and giant kites, while on the ground there are kite-building workshops, wind gardens, thematic exhibitions, and activities for children. Giant inflatable figures, food stalls, and entertainment, such as the performance by the Sbandieratori (flag wavers) of Gubbio, are also featured.
Ventomania combines an international dimension – with delegations from numerous countries – with the popular and family-friendly nature of a large outdoor festival. A free event suitable for all ages, which makes Gubbio, in the province of Perugia, the Italian capital of kites for an entire spring weekend.
The 40th edition of Ventomania, celebrated as a historic milestone, took place from March 20 to 22, 2026, at the Roman Theatre Park in Gubbio, from 10 AM to 6 PM. President Fabrizio Pierotti highlighted the emotion of reaching forty editions, also thanking the Gubbio Fly association that founded the festival in 1984.
The edition brought together over 100 kite flyers: 11 foreign delegations (Poland, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Portugal, and the United States) and 35 Italian delegations, from Trentino to Sardinia. Activities included flights of artistic and giant kites, wind gardens, the 'Gas Gas Kite' photographic exhibition, construction workshops, free e-bike experiences, food stalls, and the performance by the Sbandieratori of Gubbio.
The Roman Theatre Park is located just outside the historic center of Gubbio, on Viale del Teatro Romano. The city is reachable by car from the E45 (Mocaiana exit) and by bus from the main Umbrian cities.
The event takes place outdoors, typically from 10 AM to 6 PM, with free admission.
