About Vasci, Vicoli e Pertose

In the heart of the Valle dei Santi, in the province of Frosinone, the Vasci, Vicoli e Pertose festival transforms the historic center of San Giorgio a Liri every September into a vibrant journey of music, tradition, and local cuisine. Established in 2005, the event brings five squares to life with twelve food stalls, two concerts, and a variety of roving performances, including flag-wavers, street artists, and fire shows, all set against the backdrop of the Laghetto - Parco dei Mulini Natural Monument. An authentic dive into Ciociaria traditions with free admission.

A village that tells its story through vasci, vicoli, and pertose

The festival's name speaks the local language: vasci (ground-floor rooms), vicoli (narrow alleys), and pertose (small openings and passages) are the architectural features that define the historic center of San Giorgio a Liri. For two evenings in September, these spaces come alive: squares, courtyards, and hidden corners of the village become the stage for a celebration that rekindles the ancient traditions of the Ciociaria region through the aromas of local cooking, folk music, and street performances.

From its 2005 origins to the 2024 comeback

Vasci, Vicoli e Pertose was founded in 2005 by a group of local residents, both young and old, determined to highlight the village's heritage of memories and flavors. After twelve editions, the event went on a seven-year hiatus until its highly anticipated return in September 2024, when the thirteenth edition brought back the original enthusiasm. The success of this restart paved the way for the 2025 edition, which took place on September 6th and 7th with a weekend of great participation.

Five squares, twelve stalls: the gastronomic trail

The heart of the festival is the gastronomic trail that winds through the historic center: five squares and twelve stalls offer traditional Ciociaria dishes, prepared by local associations. Among the stars of the show is the fried pizza, to which one of the organizing associations is dedicated. Strolling from square to square, visitors can taste local delicacies, listen to music, and rediscover the crafts and customs of the past in an itinerary designed to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace.

Music and roving performances

Each edition features two main concerts and a dense schedule of roving performances: flag-wavers and folk groups, fire shows, circus acts, medieval re-enactments, accordion players, and street musicians, with a dedicated play area for children. The stage in Piazza Maria Leone has hosted the Duo De Andrรฉ with actor Andrea Filippi (2024), Antonio Petronio with Ritmo Dissidente, and Roberto Colella, frontman of La Maschera (2025), confirming a program that blends singer-songwriter music with Southern Italian folk traditions.

In the heart of Ciociaria, between the Liri river and the Parco dei Mulini

The event is promoted by the Municipality of San Giorgio a Liri in collaboration with the Department of Culture and the Pro Loco, alongside the associations Agorร , Gli Artisti del Lago, Fabrizio De Andrรฉ, and Amici della Pizza Fritta. The village, nestled in the Valle dei Santi just a few kilometers from Cassino, in the province of Frosinone, houses the Laghetto - Parco dei Mulini Natural Monument, an oasis of springs and canals that frames the festival. For those visiting lower Lazio in early September, it is a genuine opportunity to discover the truest soul of the Ciociaria region.

Vasci, Vicoli e Pertose โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Vasci, Vicoli e Pertose has not yet been officially announced. Following the 2024 comeback and the success of the 2025 edition, the event is expected to return to animate the historic center of San Giorgio a Liri over a weekend in early September, featuring the usual gastronomic trail through squares and alleys, concerts, and roving performances. The indicated dates are provisional: it is recommended to check the announcements from the Municipality and the Pro Loco.

Pending the official announcement, the 2026 edition is expected to repeat the formula that has ensured the success of recent years: five squares and twelve stalls featuring traditional Ciociaria dishes, two evening concerts, and roving performances including flag-wavers, street artists, and fire shows, all within the setting of the Laghetto - Parco dei Mulini Natural Monument. As soon as the Municipality of San Giorgio a Liri and the Pro Loco publish the dates and program, this page will be updated.
