Roasted chestnuts and mulled wine in autumn by Lake Segrino
When autumn arrives, Longone al Segrino โ a small municipality in the province of Como overlooking the small and picturesque Lake Segrino โ fills with the aroma of roasted chestnuts. The Pro Loco organizes the traditional Chestnut Festival, spread over several Sundays in October, which for decades has been one of the community's most cherished events.
The heart of the festival is the chestnuts roasted over a fire, accompanied by sausage sandwiches and mulled wine that warms the autumn afternoons. Families and visitors gather around the roasted chestnut stand, in a village festival atmosphere of music, games, and conviviality. The chestnut festivals take place in Piazza Sant'Anna and the Lido del Lago del Segrino area.
The event has a long history: the 41st edition was held in 2019, a sign of continuity that makes it an autumn classic in the Triangolo Lariano. For the Municipality of Longone al Segrino and the Province of Como, the chestnut festivals are an opportunity to experience the village and its lake in the season of red leaves.
The 2026 edition brings back the traditional chestnut festivals in October. Following the pattern of recent editions, the events will be spread across the Sundays of the month, featuring the roasted chestnut stand, sausage sandwiches, mulled wine, and moments of music and games. The precise dates will be announced by the Pro Loco of Longone al Segrino closer to the event.
The detailed program and dates for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Pro Loco of Longone al Segrino. The chestnut festivals include the cooking of chestnuts over a wood fire, the offering of sausages and mulled wine, and convivial moments with music and games on Sunday afternoons in October.
