The Green Screen section of the Susa Valley's widespread film festival, dedicated to youth and environmental sustainability.
The Valsusa Filmfest is one of the most deeply rooted film events in the Piedmont region: a widespread festival that travels across the Susa Valley every spring, bringing screenings, meetings, and concerts to eight municipalities plus Turin. Established in 1997, it has always interwoven three main themes — cinema, the environment, and historical memory — with a particular focus on new generations.
In Oulx, an important center of the Upper Valley in the province of Turin, the festival stops with its Green Screen section, hosted at the IISS Des Ambrois Auditorium. This section is organized in collaboration with the school itself and was created with a clear goal: to invite young people to tell stories related to environmental sustainability and the fight against climate change through the language of short film.
Green Screen is the heart of the Oulx leg. The competing works are screened before an audience of students and teachers, and they are judged by a mixed jury composed of students, teachers, and external experts. It is a practical way to provide education in visual media and ecology, placing young people not only in front of the screen but also behind the camera.
The Oulx stop is one of many events in a program that unfolds over more than two months in the municipalities of Almese, Avigliana, Caprie, Chianocco, Condove, Oulx, San Giorio, and Villar Focchiardo, with meetings also held in Turin. Alongside the competitive sections — including Short Films, The Alps, Keeping Memory Alive, Deserting, and Music Videos — the festival offers concerts, debates, and guests from the world of culture.
Supported by the Piedmont Region, the Metropolitan City of Turin, the Susa Valley Mountain Union, and the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, the Valsusa Filmfest is organized by the Valsusa Filmfest Association. Its strength lies in its connection to the local area and schools: the Oulx session is the clearest example, a small but significant moment where cinema becomes a tool for civic and environmental growth for the youth of the mountains.
The Oulx leg of the 30th Valsusa Filmfest will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the IISS Des Ambrois Auditorium, starting at 10:00 AM.
The event is dedicated to the Green Screen section, created in collaboration with the IISS Des Ambrois in Oulx: young people are invited to share stories related to environmental sustainability and the fight against climate change through their short films. A jury composed of students, teachers, and external experts will evaluate the works.
The session is part of the program of the widespread festival that will enliven eight municipalities of the Susa Valley and Turin from March 28 to May 24, 2026, in an edition entirely dedicated to Fabrizio De André.
