The premier car race of the Verbano Cusio Ossola region, from Baveno to Domodossola
The Valli Ossolane Rally is a historic motorsport event held in the heart of the Verbano Cusio Ossola Province, in Piedmont. Organized by the New Turbomark Rally Team, the event has become an unmissable appointment over the years for both drivers and the thousands of spectators who line the race routes to experience the thrill of the cars in action up close.
The race kicks off from the picturesque Piazza IV Novembre in Baveno, overlooking Lake Maggiore, and winds through the Ossola valleys to the finish ceremony in Domodossola. The route perfectly blends the scenic charm of the lake with the rugged, technical terrain of the Ossola mountains.
The course is renowned for its demanding and varied special stages. Among the most famous are the Baveno-Stresa, with its fluid and fast layout, the technical Crodo stage with its series of hairpin bends, and the challenging Valle Cannobina and Fomarco sections. There is also a spectacular special stage designed specifically for the public, packed with hairpins and artificial junctions, allowing fans to enjoy the show from a prime vantage point.
The event is part of the national Italian rally calendar and attracts high-level crews: the 2026 edition recorded a record number of entries, a testament to the growing appeal of a race that, as the official slogan says, is where "sport becomes legend".
With over sixty years of history, the Valli Ossolane Rally represents much more than a simple sporting competition for the VCO community. It is a festival that involves the municipalities along the route, local Pro Loco associations, and the residents of the valleys, who enthusiastically welcome drivers and fans from across Italy and abroad. The strong bond with the territory, combined with the beauty of the landscapes between Lake Maggiore and the Lepontine Alps, makes this race a unique experience in the Piedmontese motorsport scene.
The 62nd Valli Ossolane Rally represents a historic edition in terms of participant numbers: 103 registered crews, an absolute record for the event, with competitors arriving from all over Italy and even Australia. The race is valid as the second round of the Italian Rally Challenger Championship (CIR Challenger).
Among the favorites is local driver Davide Caffoni, winner of the previous edition and record holder with ten victories on the Ossola roads. The quality of the entry list, as highlighted by the organizers, is particularly high across all categories (RC1N, RC2N, RC3N, RGT, RC4N, RC5N, RC6N).
The main special stages are Baveno-Stresa (6.60 km, a fluid track starting from the Rampolina area), Crodo (9.50 km, technical with a series of hairpin bends), and the spectator stage designed for the public.
Baveno, the starting point, is easily accessible by car via the A26 motorway (Baveno-Stresa exit) and by train on the Domodossola-Milan railway line. Domodossola, the finish line, is a major railway hub connected to Milan, Novara, and Switzerland.
The rally takes place on public roads that are temporarily closed to traffic for the special stages. Spectator areas are marked by the organization along the special stage routes (Baveno-Stresa, Crodo, Cannobina, Fomarco). The spectator stage is specifically designed to offer the public an optimal view of the race.
For the detailed program, maps of the special stages, and road closure times, please consult the official website and the event's social media channels. Access to spectator areas along the stages is generally free.
