The accordion resonates in Piazza Marconi, in the heart of Val di Fassa
Every summer, the Valli dell'Avisio Accordion Festival transforms the squares of Trentino into open-air stages dedicated to an instrument deeply rooted in Alpine culture. Among the many stops on this touring circuit, the one in Canazei is among the most evocative: the concert is held in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, in the town center, framed by the imposing Dolomite peaks of Val di Fassa.
The festival is organized by the Pro Loco Castello-Molina di Fiemme in collaboration with local municipal administrations, Pro Loco associations, and cultural institutes. Molina di Fiemme is historically considered the "town of the accordion," and from this vocation, a festival was born that now reaches much of the region: the Fiemme, Fassa, and Cembra valleys, the Piana Rotaliana, the Vigolana Plateau, the Vallagarina, and the Valle dei Mòcheni. Each year, dozens of free concerts bring squares, parks, and cultural venues to life over ten days in early July.
The Canazei stage features an evening concert with free admission, designed to bring together both residents and tourists vacationing in the Dolomites. The program alternates between classical repertoire, traditional Alpine folk music, and light music, showcasing the versatility of the accordion. In case of bad weather, the concert will move to the Cinema Teatro Marmolada in Canazei.
Situated at over 1,400 meters above sea level in the heart of the Dolomites, Canazei is one of the most renowned tourist destinations in Trentino-Alto Adige, at the foot of the Sella and Marmolada groups. Its Ladin identity, combined with the natural setting of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, makes every summer event an opportunity to experience mountain culture. The Accordion Festival concert is part of a rich calendar of musical and folkloric events that accompany the summer season in the valley.
All concerts in the series are completely free and designed for a diverse audience, from families to music enthusiasts. The organizers' stated goal is to promote the accordion, showcase young talent, and create moments of connection among the Alpine communities of Trentino.
The 12th edition of the Valli dell'Avisio Accordion Festival took place from July 1 to 10, 2026, with 24 free concerts distributed throughout Trentino. The Canazei stage ideally opened the festival on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 9:00 PM, in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi.
The star of the evening was maestro Gabriele Antonelli, a musician, teacher, and concert performer, who presented a program dedicated to the versatility of the accordion. In case of bad weather, the alternative venue was the Cinema Teatro Marmolada. Like all events in the series organized by the Pro Loco Castello-Molina di Fiemme, the concert was free of charge.
