The Valdina Summer Village is the highlight of the summer on the Tyrrhenian coast of Messina. It takes place on the Fondachello seafront, the seaside district of the town of Valdina, where for about a week in August, the coast comes alive with a packed calendar of sports, music, shows, and awards ceremonies. The event is organized by the L'Eclettica association with the patronage of the Municipality of Valdina and is entirely free to enter.
The event is conceived as a sprawling summer village, designed to entertain children, young people, and families alike. Days begin with the Sport Village, dedicated to beach and outdoor disciplines, and continue late into the night with concerts, DJ sets, and fireworks displays overlooking the sea. The spirit is that of a contemporary village festival, where Sicilian tradition meets the energy of dance music.
The first part of the program is reserved for sports. Among the most popular activities is La Gabbia, an adrenaline-filled soccer tournament in 1vs1 and 2vs2 formats open to both men's and women's teams, alongside teqball challenges and SUP (stand-up paddle) lessons on the stretch of sea in front of the promenade. It is a program that highlights Fondachello's seaside appeal and engages enthusiasts of all ages.
The beating heart of the Summer Village is the evening programming. It ranges from beach music nights and the vibrant Color Party, featuring colored powders and music, to the refined Grand Gala of Sicilian Identity, dedicated to honoring local figures who have distinguished themselves in sports, entertainment, and social commitment. The grand finale is the ItaloDisco Arena, an open-air disco that revisits dance hits from the 70s to the 2000s, complete with fireworks, light shows, confetti, and choreography.
