The Alpine Festival in Val di Sella

The Val di Sella Alpine Festival is one of the most cherished summer events in Borgo Valsugana, in the province of Trento, in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Organized by the Borgo Valsugana Alpini Group, the festival takes place every August at the Casa Alpina, surrounded by the woods of Val di Sella, a side valley renowned for its pristine nature and the peaceful atmosphere it offers its visitors.

Val di Sella has always been a place dear to the community of Borgo Valsugana: over time, the Alpini have built a meeting point here that, during the festival, comes alive with holidaymakers, families, and mountain enthusiasts. The event preserves the authentic spirit of the 'penne nere' (the Alpini), rooted in solidarity, tradition, and a deep connection to the land.

A program of taste, music, and remembrance

The heart of the festival is the food court run by the Alpini, offering traditional Trentino dishes in a convivial outdoor setting. A particularly popular highlight is the tasting of wines and local products, featuring wineries and producers from Valsugana and Lagorai, along with regional specialties such as local cheeses and cured meats.

There is no shortage of live music, with band performances and dance evenings that keep the festival going until late. Plenty of space is dedicated to children, with games, face painting, and entertainment, while the lottery draw and the distribution of seasonal fruit offered by the Alpini Group have become highly anticipated traditions.

As in every proper Alpine festival, there is a moment of solemn reflection: Holy Mass and the laying of a wreath at the war memorial serve to honor the importance of memory and the deep bond that unites the Alpini to their land.
