The Tiggiano Craft Beer Festival

Urban Oktoberfest is the late-summer event that transforms the streets and squares of the historic center of Tiggiano—a small town in the Lower Salento area of the province of Lecce—into a grand stage dedicated to craft beer and conviviality. The event was launched in 2024 as the Urban Beer Fest by the Urban Beer Haus, a local venue specializing in urban-style beer and cuisine, and in just a few editions, it has become a highly anticipated date on the Salento events calendar.

Between Bavarian tradition and Salento warmth

While the Oktoberfest theme pays homage to the great Munich celebration, the Tiggiano event is deeply rooted in its territory: Bavarian tradition intertwines with the warmth and flavors of Salento. Stalls from various craft breweries line the squares, offering a selection that spans different beer styles, accompanied by food stands serving typical German dishes—from sausages to classic pub fare—alongside local specialties and street food.

Music, DJ sets, and performances

The soundtrack for the evening is provided by live music: folk groups, bands covering Italian hits, sounds ranging from ska to Salento pizzica, and DJ sets that keep the energy high until late at night. Past editions have featured dance performances, entertainment, and the traditional tapping of the first keg, which officially kicks off the festivities. Tasting workshops and meet-and-greets with master brewers are also organized for enthusiasts.

A free event in the heart of Salento

Urban Oktoberfest takes place outdoors with free admission, and food stalls remain open until midnight. It is an ideal opportunity to discover Tiggiano and its elegant 18th-century historic center, dominated by the Church of Sant'Ippazio and Palazzo Serafini-Sauli, just a few kilometers from Tricase, Santa Maria di Leuca, and the Adriatic coast of Salento. The event is part of the many beer festivals that enliven Puglia during the summer and autumn, offering a young and informal way to experience the Salento village through good beer, music, and food.
