About UNITY

UNITY is a day dedicated to sound system culture, brought to Morolo (Frosinone) by the Equinoxxx collective in partnership with the Bomboklat Festival and Astarbene. From 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM, the Madonna del Piano area comes alive with reggae, dub, and bass music played on a custom-built sound system, complemented by food & drink stalls, a chill-out zone, and an independent market. Admission is free, with voluntary contributions welcomed to support the collective's activities.

A day of independent sound in the heart of Ciociaria

UNITY was born from the synergy between local collectives, festivals, and independent organizations, all united by a desire to promote grassroots culture, community, and self-produced music. The event takes place in the Madonna del Piano area, just outside the town of Morolo in the province of Frosinone, Southern Lazio. This open space at the foot of the Lepini Mountains transforms for a full day into a meeting point for diverse communities, cultures, and generations.

Sound system culture

The sonic heart of the event is the Bass Quake Soundsystem, a collective from the Marche region that brings its custom-built rig to Morolo, designed to deliver the deep frequencies of reggae and dub in their most authentic form. This is no ordinary stage: in sound system culture, the rig itself is an instrument, hand-built and calibrated to make the music vibrate in harmony with the audience.

The musical selection spans reggae, dub, bass music, and various cross-genre influences, with sets alternating from the afternoon until late at night featuring Equinoxxx, BMBKT, and the Astarbene Crew.

The team behind UNITY

  • Equinoxxx — An independent collective active since 2024, promoting underground culture in Ciociaria through an itinerant path that has already visited Arnara, Frosinone, Giuliano di Roma, and Pofi.
  • Bomboklat Festival — One of the most established independent musical entities in the area, based in Pofi, with a history of bringing international reggae and dub artists to the province of Frosinone.
  • Astarbene — A Roman collective rooted in the scene of self-produced parties and grassroots music.

The event is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Morolo.

More than just music

Surrounding the sound system, the event is designed as a temporary village. A food & drink area serves the public from afternoon to night, while a chill-out zone offers a quieter space to rest between sets. A market space hosts local independent exhibitors, featuring crafts, self-produced goods, and regional projects.

The ASL Street Unit will also be present, providing harm reduction services, information, and prevention—a choice that reflects the event's commitment to both celebration and the safety and awareness of its participants.

Why you should attend

UNITY is not a festival built around a major headliner, but a gathering for a scene that has grown significantly in Ciociaria in recent years. Free admission, voluntary contributions, and a focus on shared spaces make it an accessible event—familiar and relaxed in the early afternoon, growing more intense as the sun sets and the sound system's bass frequencies truly take over the area.

For those visiting Lazio, it is also a great excuse to discover Morolo and the landscape of the Lepini Mountains, with its hilltop villages, olive groves, and a province—Frosinone—that keeps a vibrant tradition of local festivals alive.

UNITY — edition 2026

On Saturday, June 20, 2026, the Madonna del Piano area in Morolo hosted the first edition of UNITY, a day dedicated to sound system culture born from the collaboration between Equinoxxx, Bomboklat Festival, and Astarbene. From 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM, reggae, dub, and bass music sets were played on the Bass Quake Soundsystem's custom-built rig, accompanied by food & drink, a chill-out zone, and an independent market. Free admission with voluntary contribution.

UNITY 2026, the first edition

The inaugural day of UNITY took place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in the Madonna del Piano area in Morolo, under the patronage of the Municipality. From 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM, the custom-built sound system of the Bass Quake Soundsystem (from the Marche region) provided the sonic backbone for a selection that spanned reggae, dub, bass music, and various cross-genre influences.

Taking turns at the controls from the afternoon until late at night were the crews of the three organizing entities: Equinoxxx, BMBKT, and the Astarbene Crew. Surrounding the sound area, a food & drink zone was active all day, alongside a chill-out area for relaxation and a market space with local independent exhibitors. The ASL Street Unit was also present, providing harm reduction and prevention services.
