In the heart of the Abruzzo summer, the District Tournament is one of the most cherished historic events for the community of Castel Frentano, a village in the province of Chieti overlooking the hills that descend towards the Adriatic coast. For about two weeks, the municipal skating rink transforms into the stage for a sporting challenge that goes far beyond a simple game of five-a-side football: teams representing the town's historic districts face off, renewing a tradition that weaves together sport, social gathering, and neighborhood identity.

Two tournaments, one big celebration

The event actually brings together two parallel competitions. On one hand, the District Tournament reserved for adults, where the district representatives compete for victory in a climate of healthy local rivalry; on the other, the Under 18 District Tournament, designed to involve younger people and divided into different age categories. Matches are played in the evening, from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, when the summer heat gives way to the evening cool and the public gathers courtside to support their colors.

A tradition that unites the community

Reintroduced in recent years by a group of citizens and many young volunteers, the tournament fits into an important historical and social context for Castel Frentano, which the Associazione Quattro Stagioni APS aims to keep alive. Much more than a sporting event, the festival is a meeting point for entire families, athletes, and enthusiasts, capable of enlivening the town's summer evenings and strengthening the bond between people and their districts.

Organization

The event is organized by the Associazione Quattro Stagioni APS, based at Via Cavalieri di Vittorio Veneto 29, and takes place under the patronage of the Municipality of Castel Frentano. Team and young athlete registrations are collected in the weeks leading up to the tournament, directly at the association's headquarters.
