The medieval village of Tuscia dresses in white with music, shows, and visits to Etruscan necropolises
The Tuscania White Night is one of the most anticipated summer events in the Viterbo Tuscia area. For one evening, usually the last weekend of July, the historic center of this medieval village stays awake until late: squares become stages, shops remain open, restaurants and stalls offer local flavors, and the streets fill with families, groups of friends, and visitors from all over the province of Viterbo and the Lazio region.
The hallmark of the event is the total white dress code: citizens and visitors are invited to wear something white, creating a suggestive and luminous atmosphere that envelops the entire village. Amidst the tuff walls and illuminated alleys, the effect is that of a grand, elegant, open-air party.
The beating heart of the evening is Piazza Italia, where entertainment, group dances, and the major evening concert take place. The 2026 edition features the tribute band «Come Cesare», dedicated to Cesare Cremonini and Lunapop, while in 2025, Queen Vision paid homage to Queen. Surrounding the main stage are dance performances by the Latin Passion school, shows, car and motorcycle exhibitions along Viale Trieste, games for children, and cultural moments such as book presentations at Parco Torre di Lavello.
The White Night is also an opportunity to discover the ancient soul of Tuscania: in the late afternoon, the Tourist Office, in collaboration with Archeoares, organizes guided tours of the two Etruscan necropolises of Pian di Mola and Madonna dell'Olivo, meeting at Piazzale Trieste. It is a unique way to link contemporary celebration with the archaeological heritage that makes the city famous, along with the Romanesque basilicas of San Pietro and Santa Maria Maggiore.
The event is organized by the Municipality of Tuscania, in collaboration with local entities such as VeroBenessere and local associations. It is an evening designed to enliven commerce and village life in the height of summer, and it is part of the rich calendar of events that animates the Lazio Maremma every year.
The 2026 edition of the White Night takes place on Saturday, July 25, in the historic center of Tuscania, in the province of Viterbo. The evening, promoted by the Municipality of Tuscania with VeroBenessere, kicks off at 7:00 PM and continues until late at night with music, shows, shopping, and good food, featuring the now-traditional invitation to dress in white for the total white dress code.
The program opens in the late afternoon with a guided tour of the Etruscan necropolises of Pian di Mola and Madonna dell'Olivo, organized by the Tourist Office with Archeoares. In Piazza Italia, there will be dancing with Latin Passion, while Parco Torre di Lavello will host the presentation of the book «Il diavolo nel palazzo» as part of the Ombre Festival, and Viale Trieste will host an exhibition of cars, motocross bikes, and road motorcycles. The highlight is at 9:30 PM with the concert by «Come Cesare», a tribute band to Cesare Cremonini and Lunapop, followed by final entertainment until late at night.
Tuscania is located in the province of Viterbo, in northern Lazio. By car: from Viterbo about 25 minutes via the SP Vetrallese/Tuscanese; from Rome about 1 hour and 30 minutes via the Via Cassia or the Aurelia with a detour from Tarquinia. The city does not have a train station: the nearest stations are Viterbo and Tarquinia, connected by Cotral buses.
The White Night is free and open to the public; activities begin in the late afternoon and continue until late at night in the historic center. The guided tour of the necropolises (around 5:30 PM) requires a reservation as spots are limited: contact the Tourist Office at Piazzale Trieste ([email protected], WhatsApp +39 328 8872377). Free for children under 12 accompanied by an adult.
Respect the total white dress code, arrive early to find parking near Piazzale Trieste, and wear comfortable shoes for the stone streets of the village.
