Two nights of music, beer, and street food in the tufa village of Alta Tuscia
TUFORICA is the event that fills the historic center of Farnese, in the province of Viterbo, with music and joy in the heart of the Upper Tuscia region of Lazio. The name itself is an affectionate play on words, combining the town's name with the tufa rock upon which the village is built. For two nights, the streets and squares carved into the rock are filled with people, lights, and live music. The 2026 edition takes place on July 17th and 18th, cementing its status as one of the most anticipated moments of the Farnese summer.
The heart of TUFORICA is conviviality: a mix of live music, beer, fine cuisine, and street food that defines the two evenings. Farnese boasts a long tradition of summer beer festivals—a true Maremma-style version of Oktoberfest—featuring grilled meats, rotisserie pork shanks, and mugs poured under the stars. That popular memory lives on today in TUFORICA, which complements its food stalls with live concerts, craft vendors, and creative displays that brighten up the village.
What makes TUFORICA special is its setting: Farnese is one of the most evocative towns in the Viterbo Tuscia area, a labyrinth of alleys, arches, and stone houses overlooking the Maremma countryside. During the festival, the historic center transforms into a sprawling stage where people move from one square to another, enjoying a snack, a toast, and a live performance. It is a unique way to experience the town, blending entertainment, tradition, and the genuine hospitality of the locals.
TUFORICA is designed for everyone: families, young people, groups of friends, and curious passersby will find a relaxed and festive atmosphere during these two nights. The free, open-air format, with stalls opening in the evening, invites visitors to stroll at their leisure, dine on the dishes offered, and stop to listen to the music. It is an event that unites the Farnese community and opens the village to visitors from neighboring towns and tourists enjoying the summer in the province of Viterbo.
Nestled between Lake Bolsena and the wild Selva del Lamone forest, Farnese is a village that carries the history of the famous family of the same name in its very title. Visiting the town during TUFORICA means discovering an authentic corner of northern Lazio, defined by nature, good food, and warm hospitality. A festive evening here is also the perfect opportunity to explore the Tuscia region, a land of tufa villages, nature reserves, and enduring rural traditions.
In 2026, TUFORICA confirmed its place among the key events of the Farnese summer, with two evenings dedicated to music and conviviality. On July 17th and 18th, the tufa-stone streets of Farnese's historic center welcomed food stalls, beer taps, street food, and craft offerings, alongside live entertainment.
The format, designed for all ages, invited residents and visitors to experience the town in a festive spirit, moving between the village squares for a bite to eat and a concert. It was a mix of good food, beer, and music that renewed the tradition of Farnese's summer festivals in the heart of Upper Tuscia.
By car: From Viterbo, reach Farnese by following the provincial roads towards Upper Tuscia and Lake Bolsena; the village is just a few dozen kilometers from the provincial capital. By train: The most convenient stations are Viterbo and Montefiascone, from which you can continue by bus to Farnese. By plane: The reference airports are in Rome (Fiumicino and Ciampino), about an hour and a half away by road.
The festival takes place on the evenings of July 17th and 18th, with food and beer stalls opening in the evening. Free admission: You only pay for what you consume at the food and beer stalls.
The historic center features narrow alleys and staircases: comfortable shoes are recommended. For updated information on the program and schedule, please check the social media channels of the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Farnese.
