A local festival featuring shopping, street food, and tradition in the heart of Trino
Trino in Piazza is the most anticipated commercial and popular event in Trino, a town in the rice-growing plains of the Vercelli province, in the heart of Piedmont. On a Sunday in early June, the historic center closes to traffic and turns into a large open-air market: shopkeepers move out of their stores to set up stalls along the streets, while the public strolls through promotions, tastings, and entertainment from morning until evening.
The delicious highlight of the day is the local street food, a concept that celebrates regional products: local food shops and city-center venues set up "islands of taste" featuring Monferrato specialties and traditional dishes. Past editions have featured agnolotti with ragรน, panissa, platters of local cured meats and cheeses, local pastries, crepes, gelato, and fresh fruit: a culinary journey that tells the story of Trino through its flavors.
Beyond the food, Trino in Piazza is primarily a celebration of local commerce: shops remain open, offering discounts, special deals, and stalls throughout the center. For the little ones, there are the Grandparents' Games, featuring traditional wooden toys, and Pompieropoli, an educational obstacle course run by the Volunteer Firefighters. In Piazza Audisio, local dance schools perform, while roaming musicians accompany visitors along Corso Cavour and the central squares.
Organized by the AOCT - Trino Commercial Operators Association with the patronage of the Municipality, the event is much more than just a day of shopping: it is a meeting point for the entire Trino community and visitors from the Vercelli province, who rediscover the historic center in a lively and festive atmosphere. It is an ideal appointment for those who want to experience the identity of this Piedmontese town, its culinary excellence, and the warmth of its local life.
The new edition of Trino in Piazza will take place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in the historic center of Trino (VC), as confirmed by the municipal events calendar.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the AOCT - Trino Commercial Operators Association in the weeks leading up to the event. Following the tradition of past editions, the day is expected to feature local street food, the opening of city-center shops with promotions and stalls, traditional games for children, Pompieropoli organized by the Volunteer Firefighters, and performances by local dance schools.
