About Violet Artichoke Festival

The Trinitapoli Violet Artichoke Festival is a major autumn event celebrating the region's signature product: the prized violet artichoke. For three days, Viale Vittorio Veneto, in the center of this town in the Barletta-Andria-Trani province, transforms into a journey of taste and tradition, featuring food stalls, Apulian street food, fried artichoke tastings, live concerts, street performers, and workshops for all ages. A defining event for the Tavoliere delle Puglie region.

The violet artichoke festival in the heart of the BAT province

The Trinitapoli Violet Artichoke Festival is one of the most beloved food and wine events of the Apulian autumn. Every late November, the town of Trinitapoli, in the Barletta-Andria-Trani province, dedicates three days to its most precious product: the violet artichoke, grown in the fields of the Tavoliere and now a true symbol of the local community.

A signature product of the Tavoliere

The Trinitapoli violet artichoke owes its name to the purple hues of its bracts and is distinguished by its intense flavor and tender heart. The festival was created to showcase this local agricultural excellence, support local farmers, and introduce visitors to a supply chain that blends agriculture, culture, and tourism. It is no coincidence that the heart of the event is Viale Vittorio Veneto, which fills with stalls, aromas, and music for the occasion.

Gastronomy and tastings

The undisputed star is, of course, the artichoke, offered in many different preparations, starting with the famous fried artichoke. Alongside the tastings, there is plenty of Apulian street food and traditional Trinitapoli dishes, creating a culinary path that accompanies visitors throughout the event.

  • Tastings of the violet artichoke in various preparations
  • Street food and local traditional dishes
  • Food stalls along Viale Vittorio Veneto
  • Workshops on artichoke cultivation for adults and children

Music, entertainment, and culture

The festival is not just about food: the program features live concerts every year, street performers, magic shows and entertainment, marching bands, folk music, and traditional Apulian sounds, as well as conferences dedicated to rural and tourism development and art exhibitions. A schedule designed to entertain families, young people, and children until late in the evening.

An event for the whole family

With free admission and a festive atmosphere, the Violet Artichoke Festival is designed for all ages: educational workshops, entertainment for children, and guided tours linked to agricultural traditions and the local nature reserve make the event a perfect opportunity to discover Trinitapoli and its land. The event is organized by the Immacolata Parish of the Capuchin Friars Minor in collaboration with the Municipality of Trinitapoli and the patronage of the BAT Province.

Dates for the 2026 edition

The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced by the organizers. Based on previous years, the event is traditionally held on the last weekend of November. We recommend checking the festival's official social media channels for the program as soon as it is released.
