About Trigoria Parish Festival

Every year in early June, the Roman district of Trigoria gathers at the "S. Paola Frassinetti" Parish Center for the Festival of the Parish of Santa Maria Assunta and San Michele Arcangelo in Castel Romano. Three days of live music, sports tournaments, children's games, dance performances, food stalls, and moments of prayer, featuring a Sunday procession and solemn mass. An authentic, free, and open-to-all neighborhood festival that has brought together families, youth, and seniors in Rome's southern quadrant for over twenty-five years.

A neighborhood festival in the heart of Trigoria

The Trigoria Parish Festival is the most anticipated event of the year for this green corner of the southern quadrant of Rome, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in Lazio. It traditionally takes place on the first weekend of June in the outdoor spaces of the "S. Paola Frassinetti" Parish Center, at Via Ettore Janni 31, home to the parish of Santa Maria Assunta and San Michele Arcangelo in Castel Romano. For over twenty-five editions, the festival has accompanied the life of the neighborhood and has become its true identity-defining moment: for three days, the parish square transforms into a vibrant hub from morning until late at night.

A program designed for all ages

The formula, perfected over the years, balances religious, entertainment, and sports dimensions. Friday opens with afternoon sports tournaments and performances by students from the "Marta Russo" Comprehensive Institute, who actively participate throughout the three days; the evening continues with dance shows, musicals, and music for younger audiences. Saturday adds an eco-friendly bike ride in the park, a treasure hunt organized by the scout group, and, in the evening, a concert by a guest orchestra. Sunday is the most solemn day: morning mass, a procession winding through the neighborhood starting from the Senior Center, solemn mass, an afternoon eco-walk, tournament awards, and a grand finale with live bands, a fireworks display, and a raffle draw.

Food and conviviality

As in any respectable neighborhood festival, the food stalls are one of the event's driving forces. Parish volunteers, supported by the Neighborhood Committee, the Trigoria Senior Center, and local merchants, prepare popular Roman and Lazio dishes, sandwiches, fried foods, and desserts, served at outdoor tables. Proceeds support the community's pastoral, educational, and charitable activities throughout the year.

  • Sports tournaments for youth and adults on the parish field
  • Games, inflatables, and attractions for children
  • Dance performances by local schools
  • Concerts and cover bands on all three evenings
  • Procession and solemn mass on Sunday
  • Fireworks and final raffle

Trigoria, a neighborhood outside the city center

Trigoria is best known as the home of the AS Roma training center, but it is primarily a residential village nestled in the Roman countryside, a short distance from Castel Romano and the Decima-Malafede Nature Reserve. This peripheral location, far from the tourist routes of the historic center, makes the parish festival so important: it is the occasion where the neighborhood recognizes itself as a community and where visitors can discover a different side of Rome, built on neighborliness, volunteering, and popular tradition.

A tradition that renews itself

Recent editions have confirmed the event's vitality: the 25th edition was held from June 7 to 9, 2024, and the 26th from June 6 to 8, 2025, featuring a closing concert dedicated to Pope Francis and a blood donation day organized the following week. The parish describes the festival as the moment it best expresses its vocation as a "center for religious, spiritual, social, cultural, and sports promotion" for the neighborhood. Admission is free on all days; you only pay for what you consume at the stalls.

Trigoria Parish Festival — edition 2026

The 27th edition of the Trigoria Parish Festival took place in June 2026, following the tradition of the first weekend of the month, in the spaces of the "S. Paola Frassinetti" Parish Center on Via Ettore Janni. Three days of community, faith, and participation with live music, tournaments, children's games, and food stalls, concluded by the Sunday procession and solemn mass.

The 27th edition

In 2026, the Trigoria district in Rome once again gathered around its parish for the twenty-seventh edition of the festival. The structure of the event remained the established one: afternoons dedicated to sports and games for the little ones, evenings with shows, dance, and live music, food stalls managed by volunteers and the Neighborhood Committee, and Sunday reserved for the religious dimension with the procession through the neighborhood streets and the solemn mass.
