The fine white truffle fair of Muzzana del Turgnano
Few know that Muzzana del Turgnano, a small municipality in the lower Friuli region in the province of Udine, guards one of the most precious gastronomic treasures of the region: the fine white truffle (Tuber magnatum Pico). The plain woods surrounding the town, remnants of the ancient forest that once covered the Friulian plain, are the ideal habitat for this rare hypogeous fungus, sought after by generations of local truffle hunters.
Every year, at the end of November, the Muzzana Amatori Tartufi Association organizes Trífule in Fieste, the Friulian Fine White Truffle Fair. An event that has grown edition after edition to become a highly anticipated appointment for gourmets and curious visitors from all over Friuli Venezia Giulia.
For two days, the center of Muzzana is filled with food stalls, craft stands, and local producers. The town's restaurants offer special truffle-based menus, while visitors can watch truffle hunting demonstrations in the woods, accompanied by search dogs and their handlers. It's an opportunity to discover up close an ancient and fascinating craft, made of patience, knowledge of the territory, and respect for nature.
The charitable heart of the fair is the white truffle auction, the proceeds of which are donated to charity. There is also entertainment for children, with magic shows and face painting, and moments of conviviality that have always characterized Friulian festivals.
Promoted with the support of the Municipality of Muzzana del Turgnano and included in the calendar of events for the province of Udine, Trífule in Fieste is much more than a food and wine fair: it is an invitation to discover a little-known corner of lower Friuli, amidst plain woods, permanent meadows, and a truffle-growing tradition that deserves to be valued.
For 2026, the Muzzana Amatori Tartufi Association is preparing the new edition of the Friulian Fine White Truffle Fair. The event traditionally follows the pattern of the fourth weekend of November, with two days dedicated to white truffles, food stalls, and the charity auction.
The exact dates and detailed program have not yet been published at the time of writing: they will be communicated on the association's official channels in the weeks preceding the event.
