The running race through the streets and scenic views of Torre Cajetani
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Trial Torre is the signature footrace of Torre Cajetani, a small village perched at an altitude of 819 meters on the slopes of the Ernici Mountains in the province of Frosinone, Lazio. Every summer, in the second half of August, athletes and casual runners gather among the stone alleys of the village for a sporting challenge that doubles as a way to discover one of the most authentic corners of Ciociaria. The race serves as the grand sporting finale of the summer calendar promoted by the Municipality of Torre Cajetani, an August filled with food festivals, concerts, and events for all ages.
The course winds through the streets of the historic center and the village's scenic viewpoints: climbs and descents among stone houses, glimpses of the Teofilatto Castle, and views that sweep across the valley and surrounding peaks. This is no simple speed race: the elevation changes of the village, built around its medieval fortress, put legs to the test while offering a truly evocative running environment, far from traffic and immersed in the festive atmosphere of the village.
Trial Torre ideally closes the season of summer events in Torre Cajetani. In the 2025 edition, the race on August 23rd came at the end of a packed month: the Street Food Festival in the town square, the Wild Boar Festival organized by the 'I Lupi dei Monti Ernici' hunting group, outdoor cinema, the 90s-themed '90'Original Festa', the Ferragosto concert, and, at the end of the month, the 'Night of the Ring' at Teofilatto Castle, dedicated to the world of Tolkien. In this calendar, the footrace puts sport at the center of village life, attracting runners from neighboring towns and vacationers from the Fiuggi area.
Running is a tradition that renews itself year after year in Torre Cajetani: in the summer of 2024, the village streets hosted the non-competitive amateur race 'Castrum Turris in corsa', open to everyone and starting from the town square, its name recalling the ancient 'Castrum Turris' mentioned in medieval documents. The municipal territory also hosts regional-level mountain bike races: in short, a small village with a surprising sporting vocation.
Running in the Trial Torre also means getting to know a village with a history spanning nearly a thousand years. The 'Castrum Turris' is mentioned as early as a 1180 parchment, and according to tradition, Saint Benedict passed through here on his way to Montecassino. In 1296, the castle passed to the Caetani family, from whom the town takes its current name. Today, the Teofilatto Castle dominates the historic center and is the symbol of Torre Cajetani, which is listed among the most charming villages in Lazio, just a few kilometers from the thermal baths of Fiuggi.
At the moment, the date for the 2026 edition of the Trial Torre has not yet been announced. Based on tradition, the event is expected in the second half of August, as part of the Torrigiana summer calendar. For confirmation and registration details, it is recommended to follow the channels of the Municipality of Torre Cajetani and local associations.
The Trial Torre is expected to return to animate the streets of Torre Cajetani in the summer of 2026, continuing from the 2025 edition held on August 23rd. The official date has not yet been communicated: the event is expected in the second half of August, when the village in the province of Frosinone experiences the most intense moment of its event season, between street food, festivals, and concerts. As soon as the Municipality and local associations publish the date and details, this page will be updated with the route, schedule, and registration information.
By car: A1 Rome-Naples motorway, exit at Anagni-Fiuggi Terme, then follow signs for Fiuggi and then Torre Cajetani; the village is about 27 kilometers from Frosinone and a ten-minute drive from Fiuggi.
