The traditional farmyard festival re-enacting the ancient threshing ritual in Villa Romagnoli
TrebbiAmo Romagnoli is a historical re-enactment of the threshing season held in Villa Romagnoli, a village in the municipality of Mozzagrogna, in the province of Chieti, nestled in the heart of the Abruzzo countryside. Organized by the Pro Loco Romagnoli APS, the event revives the customs and traditions of peasant life, when wheat threshing was the most anticipated and demanding time of summer, as well as a moment of collective celebration and gathering for the entire community.
The heart of the event is the live demonstration of traditional threshing: a vintage threshing machine is brought back to life to show the public the entire process of separating grain from straw, just as it was done in the old days on the farmyard. Around the machine, scenes of rural life are recreated, complete with costumed performers and storytelling about popular traditions.
Alongside the threshing, the event features an exhibition of vintage agricultural machinery and historic tractors, a testament to the field work that shaped the history of Villa Romagnoli and the entire Sangro territory. The festival also attracts enthusiasts and collectors, with gatherings of vintage vehicles that add to the festive atmosphere.
The culinary experience is a highlight: food stalls offer traditional Abruzzese peasant dishes, from wheat-based recipes to local products, to be enjoyed in an atmosphere of authentic village conviviality. Today, TrebbiAmo Romagnoli is one of the most cherished summer festivals in the region, successfully bridging the gap between the rural roots of Abruzzo and entertainment for all ages.
The third edition of the threshing re-enactment organized by the Pro Loco Romagnoli was held on July 4 and 5, 2026, in Villa Romagnoli, a hamlet of Mozzagrogna (CH). The two days, with activities starting from 6:00 PM, featured live demonstrations of traditional threshing, exhibitions of vintage tractors and agricultural machinery, Abruzzese folk songs and dances, and food stalls with local specialties.
As in previous years, the farmyard festival combined the memory of rural labor with entertainment and conviviality, confirming its status as one of the most popular summer events in the Sangro area.
