About Trasimeno Music Festival

At the end of June, the Trasimeno Music Festival brings great classical music to the most evocative locations around Lake Trasimeno and Perugia. Directed by pianist Angela Hewitt, the festival offers top-level concerts between the Castello dei Cavalieri di Malta in Magione, the churches and theatres of Perugia, and the small square of San Savino, with a programme ranging from Baroque to the 20th century.

Classical music on the Trasimeno

The Trasimeno Music Festival is one of Umbria's most prestigious classical music events. Founded in 2005 on the initiative of the renowned Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt, who is its artistic director, the festival takes place every year at the end of June between the municipality of Magione and the city of Perugia, on the shores and in the hinterland of Lake Trasimeno.

Fascinating Locations

The concerts are held in some of the most evocative locations in the area: the Castello del Sovrano Militare Ordine di Malta in Magione, the Auditorium di San Francesco al Prato, the Basilica di San Pietro, and the Teatro del Pavone in Perugia, as well as the small square of San Savino, a hamlet of Magione overlooking the lake. Architectural and landscape settings that amplify the emotion of live music.

An International Programme

The programme features chamber, symphonic, and choral repertoire, with world-renowned performers. Angela Hewitt, recognised as one of the foremost interpreters of Bach, is joined each year by international soloists, ensembles, and orchestras, in a programme that spans music history from the Baroque to the 20th century.

Magione and the Trasimeno

In addition to the concerts, the festival is an opportunity to discover the Trasimeno area and its historical heritage, from the Magione castle to the lakeside hamlets, in a dialogue between great music, art, and the Umbrian landscape.
