Trail running in the hills of Val Trebbia, for charity
Trail Ballando is one of the most anticipated events of spring trail running in the province of Piacenza. The event takes place in Rivergaro, a charming town overlooking the Trebbia river, and takes participants to discover the trails, dirt roads, and single tracks that climb the hills above, in a typical Apennine natural amphitheater of Emilia-Romagna.
Organized by Pro Loco Tramballando in collaboration with A.S.D. PasSport, Trail Ballando has combined three ingredients for years: sport, nature, and charity. It's not just a race, but a village festival that attracts enthusiasts not only from the Piacenza area but also from Lombardy, Piedmont, and Veneto.
The offering is designed to satisfy both the most trained athletes and those simply looking for a walk immersed in nature:
The start and finish are set on the Lungo Trebbia, on the riverbank, where the Pro Loco sets up the day's headquarters.
Trail Ballando has a charitable purpose: the proceeds are donated each year to a local health or social organization. Running or walking at Trail Ballando therefore means enjoying a spectacular landscape and, at the same time, contributing to a good cause.
Born as an initiative of the community of Rivergaro, in Val Trebbia, Trail Ballando has grown edition after edition to become a classic of the running calendar in the province of Piacenza, in Emilia-Romagna. The natural setting of the valley, with the river, the woods, and the hillside villages, makes the experience suitable for both experienced trail runners and those taking their first steps in mountain running.
The 2026 edition of Trail Ballando took place on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in Rivergaro, province of Piacenza. The event, organized by Pro Loco Tramballando together with A.S.D. PasSport, re-proposed the tested formula with two competitive races and a walk open to all, but with a route change compared to previous editions.
As tradition dictates, the event maintained its solidarity spirit, with proceeds donated to a charitable cause in the Piacenza area. Participation also came from outside the region, from Lombardy, Piedmont, and Veneto.
Gathering and operations on the Lungo Trebbia in Rivergaro (Cava Ditta Giordanino side), starting from 09:00 AM, at the Pro Loco headquarters.

Rivergaro is located in Val Trebbia, about 20 km from Piacenza. By car, it can be reached from the Piacenza Sud (A1) motorway exit, following the SS45 towards Val Trebbia. The start is on the Lungo Trebbia, on the Cava Ditta Giordanino side.
Registration is done online through the official website and the Wedosport platform, or directly at the start. For the competitive distances (30 and 16 km), a medical certificate for competitive athletics is mandatory, and a minimum age of 18 years is required. The 14 km walk is open to all.
