The crime and noir fiction festival in the heart of Brindisi
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Tracce di Inchiostro - Giallo e Nero di Puglia is a literary festival that brings crime novels, noir, and investigative fiction to the historic center of Brindisi, in Puglia. Established in 2025 by the Fondazione Nuovo Teatro Verdi with the support of the Municipality of Brindisi, the event transforms the charming Cloister of the former Convento delle Scuole Pie into an open-air literary salon for several summer evenings, where the public can meet the writers who have redefined the mystery genre in Italy.
The festival is the summer highlight of the broader Giallo e Nero di Puglia project, a collaborative cultural initiative that uses the crime genre as a lens to examine contemporary reality. Crimes, investigations, obsessions, and imperfect justice become a pretext to discuss society, the territory, and Mediterranean identity. Alongside meetings with authors, the project involves readers, students, and new voices, building a year-round reading promotion path that spans the entire city.
Each event takes place in the evening, when the Apulian heat gives way to the coolness of the cloister. The meetings follow a thematic thread and feature multiple authors each evening, with moderated discussions and time for audience questions. There are also book presentations, with the opportunity to purchase books and meet the writers for signings. Admission is free, in line with the festival's popular and inclusive spirit.
Setting a noir festival in Brindisi is no coincidence: as a provincial capital overlooking the Adriatic, a gateway to the East, and a crossroads of stories, the city offers mystery fiction suspended atmospheres and Mediterranean roots. Tracce di Inchiostro is now part of the city's summer cultural calendar and represents one of the key events in Puglia for fans of the crime genre.
The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: updates on the program and guests will be published by the Fondazione Nuovo Teatro Verdi and the Municipality of Brindisi closer to the event.
