A community carnival for all ages in the heart of the Pescara Valley
In Torre de' Passeri, a small town in the province of Pescara overlooking the Pescara Valley at the gateway to the Maiella mountains, Carnival is a town square festival designed primarily for families and children. The town center comes alive with colors, masks, and joy during an afternoon dedicated to shared fun, where the community gathers to celebrate one of the most cherished traditions in the Abruzzo popular calendar.
The heart of the event is Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII, which for the occasion turns into a large open-air playground. The program includes face painting, games, entertainment, music, and activities for all ages, in a festive atmosphere open to everyone. It is a simple and genuine local carnival that focuses on community participation and the pleasure of being together amidst costumes, confetti, and music.
The Carnival Festival is organized by the Pro Loco 2.0 Torre de' Passeri APS and is part of the regional "Carnival with the Pro Loco of Abruzzo" circuit, coordinated by UNPLI Abruzzo. The initiative, which takes place over several days in February, brings together over thirty events throughout the region, including allegorical float parades, town square parties, children's entertainment, and the promotion of popular traditions. UNPLI Abruzzo represents over 280 Pro Loco associations committed to promoting the territory and its heritage.
