Presicce-Acquarica lights up with love in the heart of lower Salento
The Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy is the national event, promoted by the I Borghi piรน belli d'Italia association, which every year on a night in June invites hundreds of small towns to celebrate love in settings of rare beauty. In Presicce-Acquarica, a village in the Salento hinterland in the province of Lecce recognized as one of the most beautiful in Italy, the initiative takes the form of a special, immersive evening that fills the entire historic center with emotion.
For one night, the alleys, courtyards, small squares, and balconies of the town are illuminated by candles, lanterns, and soft lights. The evocative architecture of the village becomes the natural backdrop for a continuous show: the Ducal Palace with its hanging gardens, the underground olive mill carved into the rock, the churchyard of the Mother Church of Sant'Andrea, and the ancient streets of the center welcome the public on an itinerant journey full of surprises.
Every corner comes alive with theatrical performances, live concerts, poetry readings, dance moments, and interactive installations. Actors, musicians, dancers, street artists, and performers accompany visitors and couples on an evocative journey where words, notes, and gestures tell the story of love in all its nuances.
The Romantic Night is much more than an event: it is a way to rediscover the value of small towns and their traditions. In Presicce-Acquarica, a land of ancient olive trees, underground mills, and popular devotion, the evening becomes an opportunity to experience the village in an intimate and collective dimension, shared by residents and visitors alike. The event enhances the historical and architectural heritage of the municipality and strengthens the bond between the community and its Salento roots.
Admission is free and open to all, welcoming families, couples, and curious visitors of all ages. The itinerant and widespread format allows you to explore the historic center on foot, strolling from one scene to another under the summer sky of Salento. It is now a highly anticipated appointment that combines participation in the national network of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy with a distinct local identity, making Presicce-Acquarica an unmissable stop in the Puglian summer.
The 2026 edition of the Romantic Night in Presicce-Acquarica took place at the end of June, continuing the now-signature format of the Salento village: an immersive and widespread route through the historic center, illuminated by candles and lanterns. The town transformed into an open-air theater, with performances distributed between the Ducal Palace, the underground olive mill, the churchyard of the Mother Church of Sant'Andrea, and the ancient streets of the center. The municipality joined the national circuit of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy, which celebrated the initiative on June 20, 2026, before hosting its own special free-entry evening.
Presicce-Acquarica is located in lower Salento, in the province of Lecce. By car, it can be reached via the SS275 (exit for Presicce). The nearest train station is served by Ferrovie del Sud Est; the reference airports are Brindisi-Casale and Bari-Palese.

We recommend comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for walking on the village's cobblestones. For program updates, follow the official channels of the Municipality of Presicce-Acquarica.
