The Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy is a national initiative promoted by the association The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy which, every year on the evening closest to the summer solstice, simultaneously lights up hundreds of villages across the peninsula. In Bertinoro, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, the evening takes on a special charm: the town, nicknamed the Balcony of Romagna for its panoramic position over the plain to the sea, becomes the natural stage for an event dedicated to love, wine, and good music.
Wine, Music, and the Midnight Kiss
The Bertinoro program intertwines the Romantic Night with the Hit's Summer in the Villages and Fortresses of Romagna weekend. Along the streets and squares of the historic center, Vini e Sapori in Strada unfolds, an enogastronomic walk among the territory's wineries, with a glass and tasting tickets provided. In participating restaurants and bars, the themed dessert "Pensiero d'amore" (Thought of Love) is served, created specifically for the occasion. Meanwhile, on the Balcony of Romagna and at other scenic spots, "Pensiero d'amore" corners are set up: small spaces to capture memories with a photo #BertinoroRomantica and to exchange the traditional kiss at midnight, which gives the evening its name.
The Setting of the Drinkin' Jazz Festival
The soundtrack for the Romantic Night is provided by the Bertinoro Drinkin' Jazz Festival, a festival born from collaboration with the Dai de Jazz Association, which brings major names in Italian jazz to the village. Concerts are held in the symbolic locations of the town: the Amphitheater of the Rocca Vescovile, the Revellino Garden, and Piazza della Libertà, the pulsating heart of Bertinoro's life. The evening is also tinged with pink, in harmony with the Romagna Pink Night: special decorations and pink cocktails in the town's bars complete the atmosphere.
A Village to Explore on Foot
Bertinoro is a medieval village gathered around its Fortress and the famous Colonna delle Anella (Column of Rings), an ancient symbol of Romagna hospitality. During the Romantic Night, the village is best discovered on foot, through alleys, panoramic views, and cellars, with a free shuttle service from the parking lots on Via Badia and Allende, allowing easy access to the historic center. It's a free and widespread event (excluding some paid concerts and tastings) that combines the wine tradition of the City of Wine with the romance of a summer night.

The 2026 edition of the Romantic Night in Bertinoro takes place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, the heart of the Hit's Summer in the Villages and Fortresses of Romagna weekend (June 19-21). The evening features the Vini e Sapori in Strada enogastronomic walk in Piazza della Libertà, the themed dessert "Pensiero d'amore" in participating venues, the #BertinoroRomantica corners at scenic spots, and the traditional midnight kiss. The music is provided by the fifth edition of the Bertinoro Drinkin' Jazz Festival, with pink decorations and pink cocktails in the historic center's bars.

How to Get Here
By car: from the A14 motorway, exit at Forlì or Cesena, then take the SS9 Via Emilia and local roads towards Bertinoro (about 15 km from Forlì). By train: Forlì or Cesena station on the Bologna-Rimini line, then take a bus or taxi to the village. Nearest airport: Forlì or Rimini.
Parking and Shuttles
During the evening, a free shuttle service operates from the parking lots on Via Badia and Via Allende to the historic center, which is largely pedestrianized.
Costs
Access to the evening and romantic corners is free. Some activities are paid: the "Vini e Sapori in Strada" tasting (glass + ticket) and the evening concerts of the Drinkin' Jazz Festival (indicative tickets €12-15). Tastings in restaurants of the "Pensiero d'amore" dessert follow the menus of individual establishments.
