The village on the Tiber that turns into an enchanted land for two summer evenings
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
At the beginning of July, the historic center of Torrita Tiberina, a village in the province of Rome overlooking a bend in the Tiber, changes its face: broomsticks, cauldrons, soft lighting, and mysterious figures invade the alleys and squares for The Night of the Witches. From 5:00 PM until late at night, Piazza Don Agostino Mancini and Piazza Giacomo Matteotti become the heart of a themed festival that blends magic, folklore, craftsmanship, and live entertainment, with completely free admission.
The event was born in 2024, when the first edition—held over a single evening on July 6th—attracted curious visitors and families from across the Tiber Valley and the Roman Sabina. Given its success, the event doubled in 2025, spanning the entire weekend of July 5th and 6th. It is organized by the Anima Verde Cultural Association, an entity active between Rome and the Lazio region on topics related to spirituality, folklore, and magical cultures, with the patronage of the Municipality of Torrita Tiberina.
One of the festival's main attractions is the Witches' Market, a trail of esoteric and artisanal stalls where you can browse through magical objects, books, incense, crystals, clothing, and all sorts of curiosities. Alongside the market, the Piazza Truck Food offers street food for every taste, turning your culinary break into an integral part of the experience.
The historic center hosts The Land of the Witches: an itinerary through themed sets, evocative settings, and stations where you can meet fortune tellers and experts in divinatory arts. It is the most scenic part of the festival, the one that gives the village that atmosphere suspended between fairy tale and mystery that has become its trademark.
The evenings are marked by roving dance, music, and fire shows, while the amphitheater hosts DJ sets, themed dances, and entertainment until late at night. The most popular moment is the contest for the best witch costume, open to both adults and children, complete with a photobooth to capture the most successful disguises.
The Night of the Witches is also designed for the little ones: an area with magical games for children offers face painting, drawing, and themed activities, making the festival an appointment suitable for the whole family. Free admission and relaxed hours—from late afternoon until midnight—allow everyone to experience the event at their own pace.
The festival is also an opportunity to discover Torrita Tiberina, a village of a few hundred inhabitants perched above the Tiber Valley, about fifty kilometers north of Rome. The Municipality, one of the smallest in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, relies on events like this to showcase its historic center and the surrounding river landscape in the heart of the Lazio Region.
At the moment, there is no official confirmation regarding the 2026 edition of The Night of the Witches in Torrita Tiberina. Based on previous editions, the event would fall on the first weekend of July, between Piazza Don Agostino Mancini, Piazza Giacomo Matteotti, and the alleys of the historic center. The proven formula includes the Witches' Market, the food truck area, magical games for children, the Land of the Witches with fortune tellers and divinatory arts, DJ sets at the amphitheater, and evening dance, music, and fire shows, as well as the contest for the best costume. For updates, you can contact the organizers via email or WhatsApp.
