The charity gathering of classic and vintage motorcycles in the village of Castelvetro di Modena
The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride is much more than a motorcycle gathering: it's an international event that combines style, passion for engines, and charitable commitment. Every year, on a Sunday in May, thousands of motorcyclists in over 1,100 cities worldwide polish their boots, don their finest attire, and mount their classic and vintage motorcycles to parade together with elegance. The village of Castelvetro di Modena, in the province of Modena, is one of the Italian stops on this global event, organized by the dealership Schiatti Class (official Triumph dealer for the provinces of Reggio Emilia, Parma, and Modena) in collaboration with the Municipality of Castelvetro di Modena.
The event was born in 2012 in Sydney, Australia, from an idea by Mark Hawwa, inspired by a photograph of Don Draper, the character from the television series Mad Men, depicted in elegant attire on a classic motorcycle. Since then, The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride has grown to become a global phenomenon: in the 2025 edition, over 127,000 participants took part in 1,038 rides in 108 countries, raising approximately $7.6 million.
The ride raises funds to support the Movember foundation and has three main objectives: prostate cancer research, testicular cancer research, and programs dedicated to men's mental health, including suicide prevention. Participating therefore means combining the pleasure of the gathering with a concrete gesture of solidarity.
The dress code is an integral part of the event: jackets and ties, waistcoats, bow ties, hats, and tweed are welcome, while tracksuits, club patches, and ripped jeans are banned. Elegance, along with vintage motorcycles and café racer, scrambler, bobber, and classic styles, creates the unmistakable atmosphere of the day.
In Castelvetro di Modena, the organization by Schiatti Class transforms the gathering into a moment of community engagement, combining the passion for engines with the discovery of the territory. The village, famous for its towers, its Castle, and for the production of Lambrusco Grasparossa wine and Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, welcomes participants in its squares. Alongside the parade, there are side events such as guided tours of the village, Palazzo Rangoni, and the Communal Vinegar Factory, as well as gastronomic offerings from local restaurants and wineries.
The 2026 edition, which coincided with the event's fifteenth anniversary worldwide, was held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Castelvetro di Modena. Participants, dressed elegantly and riding classic and vintage motorcycles, gathered in the heart of the village for the usual charity parade, simultaneously with other rides around the world. The Modena leg, managed by Schiatti Class in collaboration with the Municipality, combined the passion for engines with the discovery of the territory and fundraising for the Movember foundation.
The ride took place simultaneously with over 1,100 rides worldwide, following the event's international format.
Castelvetro di Modena is located on the first hills of the Modenese Apennines, about 20 km south of Modena. By car, it can be reached from the Modena Sud exit of the A1 motorway, continuing towards Vignola and Castelvetro. By train, the reference station is Modena, then connected to the village by intercity buses.
The meeting point for participants is in Piazza Roma, under the arcade of the Tourist Office (Piazza Roma 5).
Participation in the ride is by registration on the official platform gentlemansride.com, with a charitable donation to the Movember foundation.
Wear elegant attire in line with the spirit of the event and take the opportunity to discover the village, the Lambrusco Grasparossa wineries, and the Communal Vinegar Factory.
