A Journey Back in Time at 1650 Meters

Il Campo Celtico is one of the most original events in the summer calendar of the Municipality of Foppolo, in the upper Brembana Valley, province of Bergamo. Set at 1650 meters above sea level in the Convento area, the event is a historical re-enactment dedicated to the Iron Age Celts and presents itself as the highest Celtic re-enactment in Europe, a record that makes it a unique event in the Italian historical festivals scene.

Re-enactment, Crafts, and Nature

The protagonists of the event are the re-enactment groups, who reconstruct the camps, clothing, weapons, and daily life of the ancient Celtic world. Visitors can witness craftsmanship demonstrations, immerse themselves in the trades of the past, and discover the customs and traditions of the Orobic people. The event celebrates both Celtic culture and the nature of the Brembana mountains, in a landscape of rare beauty.

Ancient Flavors and Campfire Stories

There's also a convivial dimension: stands offer mead, hypocras, and food inspired by tradition, while evenings come alive with stories and narratives around the fire. For the little ones, skill games and dedicated activities are organized, making Il Campo Celtico an event suitable for the whole family. Stalls selling artisanal products complete the experience.

Foppolo is a small alpine municipality in the province of Bergamo, a well-known ski resort in the upper Brembana Valley. In summer, the town transforms and, thanks to events like Il Campo Celtico, becomes a destination for lovers of history, nature, and mountain traditions. The parish church, dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta, celebrates Ferragosto during the same period, intertwining devotion and re-enactment in a weekend of strong identity for the Orobic community.
