Sport, health, and prevention at the Foro Italico in Rome
Tennis and Friends is one of Italy's most renowned health and sports events, bringing the Foro Italico in Rome to life every autumn in the heart of the capital and the Lazio region. Created in 2011 by Professor Giorgio Meneschincheri, the festival has built a unique model over the years: bringing together the worlds of sport, medicine, and entertainment to promote a culture of prevention. Admission is completely free, and every edition attracts tens of thousands of visitors of all ages to the Foro Italico.
The true engine of Tennis and Friends is the Health Village, where citizens can undergo completely free medical check-ups and specialist screenings without the need for an appointment. Thanks to the collaboration of dozens of healthcare facilities and scientific societies, coordinated by local health authorities (ASL), check-ups are available in numerous specialized areas: cardiology, oncology, breast health, diabetes, dermatology, pulmonology, ENT, gynecology, pediatrics, nutrition, sports medicine, and many others. It is a practical opportunity to take care of your health in an informal and festive setting.
Alongside health, sport is the absolute protagonist. The Sports Village brings together over thirty sports federations with recreational activities, tournaments, exhibitions, and trials open to children, teenagers, and adults. The Joint Forces Village hosts demonstrations and interactive paths from the State Police, Carabinieri, Army, Navy, Air Force, Financial Guard, and other Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies. Making the event even more special are the numerous celebrity ambassadors from the worlds of sport, television, and entertainment who compete on the court and support the message of prevention.
While its main event is held at the Foro Italico in Rome, Tennis and Friends has become a true national tour over the years, with stops in various Italian squares and cities, as well as events linked to the Internazionali BNL d'Italia, the major tennis tournament held at the Foro Italico in the spring. The project also brings sport and smiles to pediatric wards through the Tennis and Friends in the Ward initiative, dedicated to young hospital patients.
Tennis and Friends is much more than a sporting event: it is a great health festival that unites the city of Rome and the entire Lazio region in the name of prevention, well-being, and solidarity.
