About Tevere Day – Sports Parks

Tevere Day transforms the banks of Rome's river into a massive, city-wide celebration: ten days of sports, culture, music, and environmental awareness. The heart of the eighth edition is «Sports Parks – Urban Games», a free, open-air sports village that will bring the Ponte Milvio, Foro Italico, and Acquacetosa river parks to life from October 2 to 4, 2026, featuring over thirty disciplines to try, from rowing and fencing to emerging urban sports.

Rome's river becomes a sports village

Every October, Tevere Day gives the river back to the Romans, transforming over 80 kilometres of riverbanks—from Nazzano Farfa to Ostia and Fiumicino—into a vast, widespread stage for sports, culture, music, boating, and environmental commitment. The eighth edition, scheduled from October 2 to 11, 2026, revolves around a major new attraction: «Sports Parks – Urban Games», a completely free, open-air sports village.

Sports Parks: three days between Ponte Milvio, Foro Italico, and Acquacetosa

From October 2 to 4, 2026, the new river parks of Ponte Milvio, Foro Italico, and Acquacetosa will host over thirty disciplines open to all ages and experience levels. The public can take part in open sessions, demonstrations, and activities: from rowing to fencing, from footvolley to darts, not to mention the emerging urban sports of the Italian Urban Games and activities designed for families and seniors.

Federations and associations involved

The initiative stems from the collaboration between the Tevere Day Association and organizations such as Italian Urban Games, FISpT, and FIGeSt. The CONI and its federations will take to the banks of the Tiber, alongside ASI, CSEN Roma, AICS, Club Scherma Roma, and CUS Tor Vergata, to ensure a rich and varied sporting offering.

Vogalonga Tiberina and other events

Among the highlights of the edition is the Vogalonga Tiberina on October 10: the historic regatta connects the Tiberis river park at Ponte Marconi with the Canados shipyard in Ostia Antica, featuring over 60 boats and approximately 250 participants. Accompanying the event is a bike ride from Rome to Ostia along the Sentiero Pasolini and a river cruise. The event's patron is the two-time Olympic sailing champion Caterina Banti, while actor Roberto Ciufoli serves as the ambassador.

A celebration of community and environment

Beyond sports, Tevere Day is about culture, entertainment, music, and active citizenship: the «We Are Tiber» campaign promotes riverbank cleaning and river care, while the web series «The Tiber within me» tells the stories of the river's guardians. The event is promoted by the Tevere Day APS Association with Roma Capitale and the Lazio Region, involving over 200 cultural, sports, environmental, and social associations.

Rome, the Tiber, and its people

In Rome and the Lazio region, the Tiber is more than just a monumental backdrop: it is a living ecosystem that flows through the city. Tevere Day was born precisely to rebuild this bond, inviting citizens and visitors to rediscover the riverbanks as a public space to be experienced and protected. The full program for the 2026 edition will be presented on September 23.
