TaRAnTaNGo takes its name from the fusion of taranta and tango, perfectly capturing the essence of this festival: a week-long residential experience that weaves Argentine tango together with the pizzica, the traditional folk dance of the heel of Italy. The event takes place in Castro Marina, a scenic seaside district of Castro in the province of Lecce, located along one of the most breathtaking stretches of the Salento coastline.
A seaside residential format
Unlike a standard concert festival, TaRAnTaNGo is designed as a full-week dance holiday. Participants stay in a seaside hotel equipped with a swimming pool, umbrellas, and sun loungers, on a half-board basis with drinks included. The daily rhythm balances dance training with moments of relaxation and socializing, maintaining the informal, convivial atmosphere that is the hallmark of the organizing association, Tango Allegria.
Seminars, workshops, and milongas
The heart of the program consists of tango, milonga, and vals seminars led by renowned international masters, complemented by pizzica and Salento tarantella workshops that immerse dancers in the musical roots of the host region. Each evening, the seaside terrace milonga turns the sunset into a dance floor, allowing guests to dance in the open air under the stars, accompanied by the gentle breeze of the Strait of Otranto.
Discovering Salento
TaRAnTaNGo is more than just dance. The program includes excursions to explore the turquoise beaches and most beautiful villages of Puglia, along with tastings of local specialties that round out the Salento experience. TaRAnTaNGo — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of TaRAnTaNGo returns to Castro Marina from July 20th to 27th for eight days and seven nights in a residential seaside format. The program alternates tango, milonga, and vals seminars with Salento tarantella and pizzica workshops, featuring evening milongas on a terrace overlooking the sea and open-air dance nights. Excursions to the turquoise beaches of Salento and the most beautiful villages of Puglia are also included, along with tastings of local products.
Accommodation is provided in a seaside hotel with a pool, on a half-board basis with drinks included, a welcome toast, parking, and free Wi-Fi. The event is organized by the Tango Allegria association in the municipality of Castro, in the province of Lecce.

By car: Castro can be reached via the SS275 highway heading towards Santa Cesarea Terme and Otranto. By train: the reference station is Lecce, served by Trenitalia, followed by a bus or car transfer towards the Adriatic coast of Salento. Nearest airport: Brindisi (approx. 100 km).
